I’m a little biased b/c I’ve met Doug Jones but I think he’s going to win re-election in 2020 even with Trump on the ballot. He’s an underrated politician who positions himself well among indie and conservative Alabamians as the guy you need to make sure Trump’s policies don’t hurt you.
I’m going to say it again. We should go hard after McConnell’s seat. Almost nothing would make me happier than to knock him off.
The governors race will tell us if Mitch is beatable. If Bevin goes down, then it’s open season on Mitch.
+1. Doug Jones gets it. And he may just be smart enough to pull of reelection in 2020. That he is even in contention is amazing. Good candidate, and seems to hit just the right lines. A guy who will be there when absolutely needed, but not going to take any dumb votes.

But Manchin voted for Brat and endorsed Concerned Susie without knowing who the Dem opponent would be. Plus, their votes for Barr didn’t matter cuz rethugs already had enough votes. So comparatively, Jones is good and liberal enough.

Kentuckians always claim to hate Republicans then they vote for them (hint: it’s all about culture war/race/identity issues). If they’re truly fed up with the GOP, they’ll throw Bevin out. If that happens, then I don’t know that cocaine Mitch has enough bridges to offer to ward off a good Dem challenger.
