Discussion: Donald Trump To Meet With Mexican President Wednesday

Well if that happens, Enrique Pena Nieto, already the MOST UNPOPULAR President Mexico has EVER had will cause a ruckus within Mexico the size of which Pena Nieto has never fathom.

I’ve been watching and reading Mexican mainstream news (Milenio and El Universal) and this meeting is an invitation extended to both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Milenio

El Universal

The best analysis will definitely come from Carmen Aristegui who just a few days ago aired that President Pena Nieto PLAGIARIZED his Law School Thesis… so go figure.

Anything EPN does is sketchy, specially this PRIVATE meeting he’ll have with Trumpy.

Ah crap!
We only just got you back after your health issue (which I do hope has resolved).
I will miss your commentary. There are damned few really insightful folks around. There seems to be a fair concentration around this sand lot though. You are one of them.

When I see my Spanish-speaking neighbor tomorrow, I’ll ask her. It’s got to be a far less clunky statement than this. Or he is speaking trumpese in preparation for la visita

@morriganinoregon I think this is what called an anodyne statement. It will not offend anyone and can be taken anyway the reader wants to take it.

"I invited Mexico to the US presidential candidates wing, to discuss bilateral relations. Tomorrow I get to Donald Trump. "
is what Google Translate says

Trump is only going so he can say to President Nieto in his traditional ‘you’ve been fired’ manner, “You’ve been served.” Then his army of lawyers will serve the President the future bill for a wall more pointless than the Great Wall of China, which at least serves as a tourist draw and art for astronauts.

The meeting will be private and Mexicans WILL NOT deal with private meetings with Trump. Protests in Mexico, specially Mexico City get extremely violent, no shit, no joke, and this will be a real kick in the nuts for said country
We’re gonna have to stayed tuned. Shit is gonna get really messy.

Will Trump seek asylum in Mexico? Please!

true.

I allowed the google to identify the language rather than selecting it myself. Hence the awkward translation.

When written with good grammar, Google Translate’s good enough.

Sounds like both EPN and Trump need a diversion…and each finds the other to be a useful idiot.

“Manana receibo donald trump.” No mention of looking forward to receiving, or being honored with his presence or expectation of something positive happening. Just boilerplate. I welcome him. The man’s a diplomat welcoming a hot mess of a human being.

@morriganinoregon I just emailed my neighbor who’s originally from Mazatlan asking her to translate. If I hear in the next few minutes, I’ll put it up.

My dear, TPMistas:
To get SPOT ON journalism about tomorrow’s PRIVATE MEETING try reading/Google Translate Carmen Aristegui’s website. MUCH BETTER than even Jorge Ramos

yeah, recibo, discharging a debt, and also descargo release. I kinda got the feeling it was a figure of speech and thanks for the explanation of anodyne.

This makes sense. I got some advance warning that DT was in the area when my FIL posted to Facebook a picture of himself with Trump’s plane in the background at FAT. The post went on to say that while my FIL gave a 3 minute interview they only aired 3 seconds of it on local TV. Naturally this omission only further fueled his belief that all the conspiracy bs he surely spewed must definitely be true.

Recibo can also be a payment receipt. Spanish is quite vast.
