Discussion: Don Jr: I Didn't Tell My Dad About Trump Tower Meeting In Advance

Right – sure you didn’t. A meeting about his campaign. In his building. Two floors down from where he was. In a meeting with people he knew. But you didn’t say nuthin’ ‘bout nuthin’, right, Junior?

And you never cheated on wifey, either, right?

Isn’t lying to Congress a crime, regardless of whether the witness is under oath? Asking, um, for the smug offspring of a huge asshole.

Did you tell daddy in advance?
“No, I did not.”
Plausible deniability.
I call bull shit.

Al Capone was in Florida when the St. Valentine’s Day massacre occurred.

Trump Jr. made an an eleven-minute call to a blocked number.

And IIRC, the pro-Trump Commiitte Chair, Burr Grassley, wouldn’t allow the committee to further investigate to determine the owner of the blocked number. But I bet Mueller knows who Beavis talked to for 11 minutes.

And this is the problem. Burr and the Pubbies on the committtee were determined to find as little as possible without undue embarassment. To that extent, they were more successful than their House congeners.

Perhaps it was dad who told Donny Jr. and asked him to coordinate it.

With this daddy’s little putz offspring, all you need is to squeeze him a little and he will call daddy immediately asking "what am I gonna do and say ? using that blocked number I am sure.

“Did you inform your father about the meeting or the underlying offer prior to the meeting,” a congressional investigator for the committee’s GOP majority asked.

“No, I did not,” Trump Jr. replied.

That was in the House “investigation.”

“We sought to determine whether that number belonged to the president, because we also ascertained that then-candidate Trump used a blocked number,” Schiff said during our interview. “That would tell us whether Don Jr. sought his father’s permission to take the meeting, and [whether] that was the purpose of that call.”

Schiff added that Democrats asked Republicans to subpoena phone records to determine whose number it was, but Republicans “refused,” Schiff said. “They didn’t want to know whether he had informed his father and sought his permission to take that meeting with the Russians.”

It is, but its rarely prosecuted. Contempt of Congress is the charge. It won’t be prosecuted here, either.

But its highly probable that Junior has told the same lies to Mueller’s people. And that IS a crime that is prosecuted.

“Trump Jr. testified that he could not recall who he spoke with, or whether his father used a blocked number.”

But we all know who does know where the blocked number was. Mueller.

That particular lie is so absurd, its almost funny. What…Junior just randomly typed in some digits and it happened to be a blocked number? No. To call a blocked number, Junior knew PRECISELY what number he was calling and who he was calling. Likewise, he has known for years that Daddy uses a blocked number.

Apples that fall a little early used to be picked up and put to good purpose …

That is … when fruit growers used to be able to get migrant workers —

Now the fruit just rots … this reminds me of that … for some reason —

Thanks. It’s difficult to keep track.

ETA. But since Feinstein is bringing it up in this instance, it seems as if the Senate committee wasn’t interested in delving into the blocked number either.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) pointed out that on the evening of June 6, hours after Trump Jr. first spoke to Agalarov “about this Hillary info,” Trump Jr. made an an eleven-minute call to a blocked number.

Trump Jr. testified that he could not recall who he spoke with, or whether his father used a blocked number.

As Feinstein’s office noted, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski testified before the House Intelligence Committee that Trump Sr.’s home number is blocked.

jr can say whatever he wants to daddies friends on the sjc but they can also purge themselves as well…

I am reminded of one of the funniest, stupid things I have seen on TV regarding poliitcal scandals.

When Herman Cain was getting nailed for having affairs, the local FOX affliate in Atlanta had one of the women on their show for a live interview. During that interview, she said she had Cain’s direct number. At that very moment, Cain was giving a speech denying all of the allegations. The interviewer asked her to call Cain…and she did. And sure enough, he answered the phone immediately…unaware that it was live on TV…and starting talking to her “You ok, baby? Don’t worry, this will all blow over soon” That sort of stuff.

He dropped out of the race the next day I believe.

The defense that Trump knew nothing in advance and is therefore home free doesn’t work–but Dems need to wise up and change their language on this. Even if Trump only found out about stuff after the event he ratified–authorized in retrospect–the collusive and obviously unacceptable actions taken by his representatives/agents.

That is a very basic rule of agency. If my agent makes a deal on my behalf without my knowledge and I then knowingly approve/don’t disown the deal, I own the deal. I want to see the Dems out there making ‘ratification’ the new buzzword. Trump ratified the secret meetings Flynn had with Kislyak. Trump ratified the Papadopoulos maneuvers. Trump ratified Don Jr’s offer to the Russian secret agent to find dirt on Hillary. Trump ratified Cohen’s scheme to milk corporations in return for influence. And so on. Rats ratify.
