More frustration to come!
I can only characterize that as an incredibly weak, low-energy pushback. It’s a “we’re trying, we’re trying”.
Of course it could all be resolved by getting a court order to release the grand jury material without redaction and RELEASE THE WHOLE REPORT.
The stonewalling has now begun in earnest. I see that the spokesperson completely ignores that Barr can ask a judge to grant approval for revealing grand Jury information.
The wheels on the Barr bus are coming off and there is little Barr can do about it now.
The law doesn’t prevent releasing grand jury material to Congress, asshole.
That ANY of this is a surprise to anyone shows their lack of knowledge about Barr.
He was specifically hired by Trump to do EXACTLY what he did with the Iran/Contra investigation: Cover Up, Obscure, and make sure neither the President nor the Vice President are indicted.
It was clear from the start that he auditioned for the job with his infamous letter stating that NO President can ever be indicted for ANYTHING while in office (an asinine idea that anyone in the United States is above the law) and that he should have recused himself immediately from ANYTHING to do with Mueller’s report.
That he did not calls everything he does into question.
There are scheduled protests and rallies today in support of releasing the entire report.
Weasel explanation. The executive and section summaries could have been scanned for grand jury content and had necessary redactions applied in the 48 hour period following the Mueller Report’s submission, and could have accompanied the Barr letter. That would have prevented elements of the report being released “piecemeal”.
The “piecemeal” excuse is an obstacle that exists only because of Barr’s preference, not from any procedural requirement or protocol.
You know, bullshit doesn’t smell any better in the spring than it does in the winter.
I think it smells worse in the spring. Just my opinion.
The bullshit about the “redaction process” is so deep hip waders won’t keep you clean. Congress is very capable of reviewing the whole report and suporting documents while keeping secure those issues necessary. (Grand Jury info from Watergate has never spilled.) Not that I would trust the rethugs if the shoe was on the other foot.
A question I have is, why has Barr gone into protection mode for Donnie Moscow? While his reputation was tarnished by the Poppy Bush Iran/Contra pardon crap this four page cover-up will forever place him among those who served ideology over country.
Exactly, and they don’t need to redact anything before releasing it to the House intel committee or the judiciary committee.
DOJ: I am sorry the report is under audit, and as everyone knows we can’t release the report while its under audit.
Yes, when it comes to their dishonesty, we passed “breath-taking” years ago.
Well, on this important topic I have to state my view: I do believe you’re right.
I’m pretty sure that the SCIF’s in the capitol are just as tempest certified as the ones at the WH (I agree). In fact, I’d go so far as to say that I trust the folks cleared to be eligible to see this report (MOC & staffers) are better vetted than those at the WH.
It’s even riper in the summer.
Because “flunky” is in his very DNA.
