I can see Trump asking for this because it meets Trump’s Razor for being one of the stupidest things he could do. I don’t understand what Sessions is thinking either, however. They should take what they got so far and run - but no they want more. Which will provoke more of a judicial and legal outcry over the pardon, which had sunk in the news beneath the waves of Harvey.

There’s ongoing litigation with regard to the pardon. I can’t wait to see what happens with this request.

The rule of law tossed aside. The integrity of the courts tossed aside. Decency tossed aside. Shameful!

He can’t have a pardon unless he’s guilty, no?

This DOJ step is striking me as on-par-insidious to the justice system as the original pardon. What’s your view?

Last night John Oliver did a segment on Arpaio outlining his contempt for the law as well as his record and cost of $70 million to Maricopa county.
But what he also stresses is how the media played to his narrative as “Americas toughest sheriff” without questioning his motives. There was never a Mike Wallace or Murrow moment. Equating tough with effective but not constitutional. Never looking at the rational for open air prisons or the efficacy of racial profiling. The media with the exception of Phoenix New Times failed this test.

Well, I was wondering how long it would be before we heard from DOJ coming out in favor of Arpaio. Frankly, I’m surprised it took this long.

what Sessions is thinking[/quote]

That goes beyond assuming facts not in evidence and ventures into the world of The Twilight Zone.

Because Sessions is as stupid as Trump, if not more so . . . . though I doubt that such is even possible.

Trump seems to have decided the pardon power includes the right to declare innocence. Probably he’ll feel before long he has the right to declare guilt too.

Trump attempted justice interuptus. How dare some judge try to make the DOJ and Arpaio complete the act.

One of many steps Trump and his gang are taking to Tyranny. Read the history of the Third Reich.

Some things Republicans don’t care about seeing carried to full term.

Yet another step toward dictatorship.

O well yeah - as long as Sessions runs it then I don’t trust anything.

There’s a federal judge on the other end of this. He doesn’t work for Sessions.

And so far they don’t seem to think it much matters to their decisions what Trump’s preferred outcome would be.

It would be hilarious if this made its way up to SCotUS and the newly refreshed conservative majority seized the opportunity to weaken/restrict the pardon power.
