We need top to bottom overhaul of our gun laws, not this piecemeal, token bullshit.
Not that I’m in favor of bump stocks–they’re horrific–but the shooter in Florida didn’t use one, did he? So they are trying to make the kids in Florida shut up by banning something that was used during a previous assault. I guess it’s too much to ask that they keep up with the carnage.

Point one is the constant deception with this guy. Saying the Obama Administration “legalized” bump stocks (which it instead determined it needed real legislation, not not a quickie-fix administrative rule, to correct).
Point two is the Obama Administration was probably RIGHT. A serious analysis determined that a quickie fix administrative rule will fail. The NRA will file suit to challenge it. And win. What is needed is for Congress to pass a federal statute, clearly banning bump stocks. So this Trumpian effort is window dressing, to make it look like they’re doing something.

The fact that congress did not pass a law banning bump stocks immediately after Vegas is a testament to how morally bankrupt and COMPLICIT congress is to the ongoing deaths by gun violence.
This was a dead dead dead simple “just do it”, and they didn’t have the fortitude to stand up for this, the most minimal of efforts.
As Republicans slither around trying to look like they care, bump stocks are their latest sacrifice on the alter of the NRA. You can bet $$ Wayne and his boys are not taking this lightly. Once the GOP realizes exactly how toxic the NRA is they will flee like the gross cowards they are. We will not forget what the Republican party has been complacent in. Vote them all out.
I find it interesting that corporations are picking up where the GOP has fallen all the way down and they are going forward with gun control.
Especially inasmuch as corporations are the Great Satan of the left, but guns are bad for business, and that’s a good thing.
So they’re starting the process to amend the regulations. I’m sure that by 2024 they’ll be ready with a draft. (Which, yeah, will immediately be subject to litigation because the text saying bump stocks don’t fall under the law is already public)
Usually people this far disconnected from reality are in an institution somewhere.
