Discussion: Does it Pay To Be Cra?

Discussion for article #227307

Sorry, but EF is completely misreading the Maine governor’s race, despite being (I think) generally right in their assessment of independent candidates. Mike Michaud, the Democrat, is not going to be dropping out - he’s in the lead, well-funded, well-liked (he’s represented the more-conservative 2nd district in Congress for many years), and a good campaigner. Compare that to the last election where the Democrat was Libby Mitchell, who ran a poorly-funded lackluster campaign, and wasn’t very well known or liked. LePage has been so catastrophically bad that most liberal-leaning people learned their lesson - Cutler is only polling about 7-8% this time, compared to 30% in 2010. I’m sure he won’t drop out either because of the narcissism EF talks about, but he’s almost certainly not going to be a spoiler this time either.
