Discussion: Docs Show Ties Between Kobach, Fed. Official Who OK'd Rule Restricting Voting

You aren’t seeing it “right”. To GOP’ers like the ones above your rights only go as far as they suit the GOP’s entrenchment needs. You don’t really have self serving rights. You are granted things that fit the GOP agenda and advance their cause. Those are your rights. I take exception to your use of “red states”. GOP vote restrictions have been placed in Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Rd. Island. Those are not Red States. They experimented with GOP’er politics and got the predicted results.

Time to rename the state to Kanser.

I’d like to ask all those Eisenhower Republicans , how does it feel to know you’ve been deceived by an official you trust? How do you pose yourself and your party as moral pillars, when you all seem willing to let this kind of patronage and cheating go on in the democratic process?

Or is it somehow OK for these people to cheat at democracy, just because they are “conservatives?”

The Kansas ethics commission is only there to keep Democrats in line, they do nothing to really live up to their name.

They henpeck street level Kansas Democrats over tiny contributions, but turn a blind eye to Koch millions pouring into legislature races, along with some of this most outrageous patronage like this article so publicly exposed.

HYPOCRITES!

Um, if you’re David and up against Goliath, lotsa luck changing things by getting “creative”. Kansas is near the bottom of party priorities because of its low population. So KS Dems are David, up against overwhelming (relative) numbers and $ of Koch-led people in Koch’s own back yard. Frankly I suspect if the DNC were to dump tons of $ on KS the Koch Goliath would just throw more $ on their table, no problem. Yeah, KS Dems would like more money and attention but are doing what they can. KS has pretty much always been Republican-led, but those were the old time moderate (read rational) Republicans. Still, old habits die hard for those rural folks who never really had to think all that much about politics before, and who lack, because of rural distances and low densities, the various communications networks that would help them get up to speed. Schools closing early, teacher scarcity, Universities getting the shaft, hospitals closing and roads getting bad are waking some of them up… slowly. That’s the sort of thing it takes here. Maybe by the time we look like MS the worm will turn…

What’s new is the info about the guy’s previous job record and the discrepancies in the claims about just how he was selected for the committee.

GOP Cocksuckers know that as time goes by and more and more evidence shows that their policies are nonsense and simply do not work for most of us, they go more and more to restricting who can vote.

It’s hard to tell. All stories about Kobach revolve around the same theme: sleaze, corruption, and cronyism. It’s pretty much, you seen one, you’ve seen 'em all.

Yes. He took it on himself to allow 3 red states to publish a voter registration form demanding proof of citizenship. One of the states (GA, I think) hadn’t even asked for the change (numbers game?). Here:

Please bring back Eric Holder. AG Lynch is busy scrap-booking.

The Tealiban is dedicated to the mission of disenfranchisement of any group of voters that does not reliably vote Republican. Demographic changes now and in the near future clearly demonstrate that the Teapublican party cannot continue to win elections fairly, so they are dedicated to stealing them by suppressing voter turnout and shredding the very fabric of our democracy.

an upcoming period that will tax our resources

I thought RePuritans didn’t believe in taxes? Now they’ll be spending taxpayer money somehow creatively defending Kobach, Newby, and this abortion of a voter registration regulation.

This game was played at the national level. The Democrats asleep at the switch are all part of administration or the DNC.

That music is the blues. No wonder.

I lived there way too long, and I seriously only knew TWO other people who were Democrats…and one of them didn’t vote. The religious factor is big in keeping the Stepford mindset going. If Wichitans are actually seething, I’m glad of that bit of progress. I’d love to see it turn purple.

All what Eisenhower Republicans? Eisenhower’s last election was sixty years ago the youngest people alive today that could have voted for him in the '56 election are in their early eighties. Most of his supporters are dead and replaced by the lunatic Republican party of Reagan, Gingrich, and Bush that has emerged over the last 35-40 years.

Why do people keep pretending that the reasonably sane Republican’s of Eisenhower’s day are still a thing? If they were reasonable they wouldn’t still be going along with all the crazy shit their party has been doing for the last 20+ years.

What is it with republicans and sleaze? They revel and slosh in it like it was a swimming pool.

And with the “Eisenhower republicans” - I was in grade school when he was elected, and I too registered to vote at 21 as a republican.

It wasn’t too many years thereafter, five or six I’d say, before my registration was changed to Demo. Republicans have been getting worse and worse over my lifetime. Any more these days, one must be certifiably insane to call themselves a voting republican.

This character, Kobach, looks like he’s an inmate from ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’. Pure evil in those eyes.

Kobach, LaPaige, Arpaio, there’s a list of very prominent white power supporters in GOP establishment circles, and even more amazing is that despite their constant racism they are all still in office. They, and everyone around them, should be investigated for corruption and racial discrimination, but first, vote or remove them from office.

It’s certainly crystal clear to me that the former conservative majority on the SCOTUS bench were correct that pre-approval isn’t needed, because changes will be made anyway due to corruption at the federal level. They were so prescient.
