Discussion: Did We Overestimate Donald's Drag On Republicans In The Senate?

Looks like tomorrow is the first “October surprise” info dump from Wikileaks. It seems that information regarding declassification of emails etc is the highlight. IMHO everyone is passed the email gate crap except the Trump base.

The verbiage and “safety concern” drama suggest Assange may even be trying to find an out. His surprise is possibly nothing new.

Very, very true. It also doesn’t help that the Democrats don’t do a lot of fighting, and rather than seeing an opportunity to fight hard in this election cycle when the Republicans are topped by a very erratic and unpopular person, they’re sticking to their 2020 plans. I think part of that is Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was ousted from the Party leadership far to late for things to be realigned in such a way as to be more advantageous for the Democrats.

Assange is proving to be the 400 pound man sitting on the side of his bed in the basement.

I think Debbie Wasserman Schultz should have been ousted long before the 2016 cycle. She was demonstrably the worst Chair in 50 years. She didn’t do a damn thing down ballot. She even helped get her Republican friends in Florida elected. In most states the Democratic party is a rotting corpse populated by gray hairs well past their replace by date.

The party needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

He promised to bring Hillary down before the debate stage as well; he’s just milking this as much as possible.

Beating Trump without regaining the Senate will be a very hollow victory…

Oh, bullshit. If by “many,” you mean a number who will make a difference, this is complete nonsense based entirely on the right wing delusion that everyone else hates her as much as right wingers do. No one who hates Hillary because wallstreetselloutgoldmanblahdeblah is going to vote for Stein or (even more stupidly) Johnson and then vote for the even worse Democratic wallstreetselloutgoldmanblahdeblah senate candidate. No one who votes for Hillary because Trump is terrifyingly stupid and crazy will vote for the Democrats down ballot. If an “undecided” breaks her way, they’re going to go D.

Part of it is that Hillary refuses to run against the Republicans and instead is treating Trump as a separate entity. I can’t imagine the Republicans letting go of an issue like Merrick Garland and the Supreme Court like the Democrats have. The GOP has one big thing going for it, and that’s message discipline. They would have been chanting “We demand a vote!” from Day One. I doubt that more than 1 in 20 voters could tell you Garland’s name.

A. Poll Tracker sux. No better than Real Clear. Uses data that is old and reflective of trends that change daily. B. The Senate wont be a cakewalk. C. Trump is back to implosion mode. D. Interparty voting is overrated.

Ought to be tying Trump to these GOPers: Did Donald get the majority of the primary voters in your state? Well then, do you support him?

Got a link for that? I’m volunteering for my state’s “coordinated campaign” for both Clinton and state races which, to the best of my knowledge, is funded primarily by the Clinton campaign.

Patience. We’ve seen a significant bump for Clinton in the National Polls over the last 7-10 days. State polls lag national polls. Senate polls lag state polls. We’re starting to see the swing.

At any rate, I don’t think it’s correct to say there’s no drag on Senate races at the top of the ticket. The more correct assertion is when you put yourself in such a bind with crappy midterm performances that you have to almost be perfect and flip every up for grabs Senate contest to swing the Senate, you’ve put yourself in a very bad situation.

I think Nick was telling a little story.

That’s why I asked for receipts.

I didn’t bother, not with his commenting history, but let’s see what he comes up with. I’ve heard the exact opposite for months. Perhaps…

crickets.

“Hillary Clinton’s campaign raised more than $154 million in September, marking its best fundraising month, according to a statement released Saturday.
Hillary for America raised about $84 million, while about $70 million was raised for the Democratic National Committee and state parties through the Hillary Victory Fund and the Hillary Action Fund, according to the statement.”

This. This exactly. I’ve seen people coming out for Trump that 3 months ago claimed they wouldn’t vote for him. I’ve seen Trump signs pop up in yards everywhere. So so disappointed in my fellow citizens.

That’s disappointing. It’s been months since I’ve had a chance to bust out my fallacy referee memes.
