It doesn’t get talked about as much as the Nazis in Germany and the fascists in Italy but in the Balkans and in Hungary and Romania there were atrocities so bad that Hitler sent Himmler to Romania to tell them to chill.
The shit they did to Jews in Hungary and the Balkans - o my god.
Some of what I’ve read about Romania is unspeakable.

I heard this guy interviewed on NPR this morning. Oh gawd… that voice! Arrogance piled on preening arrogance. Churchill would have taken one look and said 'There but for the grace of god, goes god." I can’t wait to see how SNL slices/dices him. He ought to be expelled from the country and have to go back to Transylvania. Otherwise, he and Kissinger can run off the Puerto Valarta and stay there.

That’s Douglas Fairbanks Jr, in the best role in the movie, the smartassed good bad guy. And that was play-acting. In real life he wore a uniform as well.

So, the worst case scenario is that he’s consciously identifying as an anti-semite, but, it may be that he’s only openly identifying himself as a fascist? Well gosh, that’s a relief. And certainly, future advisors to a president of the United States dressing themselves up in outlandish uniforms associated with right-wing extremist movements is perfectly normal in any case.
As, indeed, is the wearing of uniform like things to inaugurations with elaborate frogging. You know, if you’re in a high school band.
