Aside from the ugly, inhumane treatment of these human beings, what galls me further is that DHS has put the correction of these problems right back into the hands of the agency that created them. ICE.
A parent with authority can tell their child to clean their room. It has become exceedingly clear that the Parent in this case, is either without real authority, or simply teaching its Child how to be messier.
The director of DHS signed off on child separation. She’s no humanitarian. I’d go so far as to call her a frickin’ nazi. How can we expect ICE to fix this, based on a “recommendations memo”, when the agency writing the memo is the main enabler of the behavior and the problems?
America has been hit with an ugly stick, and I see no easy way to bring back the beauty of it…

Many of the original Nazis were in it for the money, too. Money, art, power. “The fatherland” was a cover for their true motivations, just like MAGA is a cover for the Trumpsters’ grifting.

I suggest we save all of these nooses and put them to good use. Show the condemned dirty Republican bastards what are going to be hung with them. Make them sleep in their cells staring at that noose one of those poor people fashioned, with the knowledge that one of these days they will swing from them.

I vacillate between crying, being nauseous, feeling ashamed, and becoming really angry. If this doesn’t change soon, and if there are no serious consequences for Nielsen and those responsible, I’m not sure I want to be an American any more. I know there are many good people left, but the evil ones are slowly taking over (or at least that is what it feels like when I read this)
