Discussion: DeVos Dodges Questions On Guidelines To Combat Campus Sexual Assault

Betsy, it’s too bad you have neither the courage or the character to stand up and state your convictions , perhaps your faith in them as something the public would want or accept is not so strong. But of course you think you know what’s best for the rest of us because according to your Calvinist self delusion, er, religion you believe that being rich proves you are blessed by the FSM or somesuch and thus entitled.

Wrong!

Being a MI resident, this woman must not be confirmed. She is a typical rich, golden spooner who wants nothing but profit from our schools. Why is it that education for all has become a pariah among the wealthy…oh wait. Nevermind. I understand greed.

From your link:

Her supporters, however, suggested the criticism she’d received was unfair. Former Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, who introduced DeVos to the committee, called her a “change agent” who would fight for necessary reform

Get lost, Joe. Maybe you will find your heart when you get there. Use a magnifying glass.

Is it just me or are the confirmation hearings started to out perform “america’s Most Wanted” for exposing crimes and naming those who have run afoul of the law.
DeVos claims she knows nothing about an organization that she is listed as a VP forr 14 yeras. I would like to know if she ever received 1 penny from that organization as a per diem, salary, benefits, cars, chauffer’s, whatever . If so this has a whiff of perjury and god knows what else. Plus a $5 Million fine she owes Ohio for several years.
HHS nomineee defines insider trading. Gotta be a crime. Rex and stating exxon never lobbied about sanctions doesn’t pass the laugh test. even the republicans were laughing at him.
NSA nominated Crowley has to leave over overt broad plagiarism and should, at the very least loss her Ph.D.
Hell might as well bring Christie into the mix. He might be the only honest crook in the bunch

The more I hear of her positions and political activities, the more I know that she is probably the WORST of Trump’s cabinet appointees. This country was founded on and desperately needs to maintain the quality of public eduction. Dems, please find a way to block her confirmation.

There is something to be said for experienced and specialized sexual assault units of police detectives gathering and preserving evidence and conducting interviews. On the other hand, while it takes time to develop a case under the beyond a reasonable doubt standard of the criminal justice system (the alleged perp is still roaming the campus and even in some of her classes), Title IX remedies are more victim protective in that the school can expel or suspend the alleged perp even if evidence does not rise to the beyond a reasonable doubt criminal standard. So Title IX remedies are in addition to police criminal investigation remedy if the victim so chooses.

Ding, ding, ding. I don’t think most Americans yet grasp what has happened. Very rich people are now implementing their version of reality, something that was seen as fringy and kooky back in the 1950s and 1960s in Pasadena and San Marino. DeVos certainly has her eye on the prize, which is a Bircher dream. A world where the super-rich get a fair shake, because, well, they are special. A hereditary ruling class. These people have long fought against the notion of education as a right, and have won at the Supreme Court. They have to dictate the terms of trade, and the narrow set of rights to which individuals are entitled on a dying planet. Freaking-out plutocracies are not just a problem in the US, you see it everywhere. But given that American plutocrats control about a third of the planet’s wealth, this tantrum is one that cannot be ignored.

DeVos told the Senator who represents Newtown, Mass. that schools in Wyoming probably probably have guns in them to protect the children against … Grizzly bears.

Help, Flying Spaghetti Monster, Help!

WHY do they have to be such weasels? ‘YES’ I think it’s bad. ‘NO’ I won’t let it go on. ‘YES’ I commit to looking at the policies and legislation surrounding this egregious issue.

The Onion could not do better than her answer about guns in a school to protect all from …bears. I had to give up drinking cuz of a pain medication I have to be on but damn a shot of bourbon to restore reality sounds good.
