Discussion: Despite State Threats, Syrian Refugees to Arrive in Texas Within 10 Days

Discussion for article #243353

Gosh, I wish them the best. But really, they might have been better off in Syria than in Texas.

Texas?

Look, haven’t these people had ENOUGH trouble?

I feel so bad for those unlucky ones who drew the short straw that said “Texas” on it.

“Syrian Refugees To Arrive In Texas Within 10 Days.”

It’s only fair.

The other states continually resettle fellow citizens fleeing the violence and extremism in Texas.

This may be the “schoolhouse door” moment that we’re looking for.

These folks have endured some blood-crazed shithooks trying to kill them because they don’t pray what they think is the right way.

NOW they’re supposed to be intimidated by some fraidy-cat goofballs in Texas? Puh-leeeeeze

“Failure to cooperate with the state of Texas as required by federal law may result in the termination of your contract with the state and other legal action,” Health and Human Services Executive Commissioner Chris Traylor wrote in the Nov. 25 letter.

“Failure to cooperate with this aid organization as required by federal law may result in the termination of Texas receiving ANY aid monies.” (says the Federal Government)

As a resident of the State of TX, I know that there is a lot of idiots who live here and we vote in even more idiots.

But here are a few facts that you should consider before you you berate us all.

“Texas has become one of the top three states, along with California and Michigan, in Syrian refugee resettlement. Texas is also one of the nation’s top states for the resettlement of what has been an annual flow of about 70,000 refugees into the U.S.”

Nearly every state–at least the ones with any decent square mileage–has a spread of regional cultures and beliefs. Texas just happens to be very large and has been a larger draw to the much more conservative-minded of us. Look at California, without the immediate coastal counties, CA would be a fairly red to purple-red state. Virginia (my current locale) is no different. Thanks for the info about the refugee resettlement numbers.

This is another indication that politicians like Abbot would ignore the Constitution if they could.

Dallas actually has a very healthy muslim community. That was why Pam Gellar held her bigoted meeting here last May, because of the large muslim community. She was spitting in their eye. She even said she chose the convention center because in January there was an event titled something like ‘Allah is love’ or something advocating loving everyone and peace.

That’s because she is a hateful fucking bitch.

Oh, wow, 70.000 refugees a year! That is almost 6-7% of the number of refugees expected in Germany this year. And Germany has about a quarter of the US population and is the size of Montana. No wonder that the people in Texas are scared to death by this veritable deluge of refugees!
