Discussion: Deputies: Florida Mom Shot In Back While Driving By 4-year-Old Son

One can only hope that the bullet causes sever pain for the rest of her life as a lesson in utter stupidity.

Who puts a gun near a toddler in a car? He should not have been able to reach that far from his car seat or is that too much of an imposition on her freedom as well?

It’s been a long time but I don’t think a 4 year old is a toddler. Good point about the car seat.

You can corral a lot of stupid under a 10-gallon hat.
Just sayin’!

Now if there were any sense in the NRA world (I know, I know) this woman would not be allowed to own a firearm for a prolonged period of time (at least until her kids are grown) due to a manifest inability to handle/store them safely.

Buuuuuutttttt…

I guess you mean the statues at the bridge. I like them too but St. Aug’s Bridge of Lions is my favorite.

Of course he shot her. She was wearing a black hat.

That’s Good Guy With a Gun 101 right there, folks. This kid should get a parade.

How does one quickly realize that a driver behaving frantically has been shot? I guess if she was bleeding maybe that would be a clue, but it might have been difficult to see her back inside the truck.

I’ve been to Palatka and lived in Cross City, both the same kind of people. Both believe their weapons more precious than the lives of their children. Sadly the incidence of shootings by toddlers is rising on an exponential curve and we’ll see more of them until we have finally had enough and stop ownership of small handguns or at least restricted the ownership of these guns to a limited few.

ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. This is the primary rule of gun safety. …
ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. …
ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.

Little ones are ready to do some blasting.

Kids, some of you may be wrong-headedly jumping to the conclusion that having plenty of loaded handguns around for self-protection might be a stupid and dangerous thing to do. Nothing could be further from the truth. Good guys with guns are all that stand between you and complete safety, other than the wildly improbable chances that you would ever need the gun for protection. Sure, you might end up shooting your mom or your best friend, but that blood is a small price to pay for the liberty of being able to wave that gun around in someone’s face when they’re threatening you by not looking the right way or getting too close to you or disagreeing with your wild, paranoid conspiracies at the bar. So keep on being fascinated with firearms, buy lots of them and ammo to go with them, keep locked and loaded, and just have fun with guns.

Yours in freedim,

The firearm friendly folks at the NRA

And the kid should have been in a car seat besides. Clearly he wasn’t. She should be arrested for two counts of child endangerment.
