“What I did was fun, and I regret being caught.”

When judge asked Hastert if he abused them, Hastert replied ‘yes,’ according to the Tribune and sat back in his wheelchair.

Damn, he was so abusive it rendered him disabled.

Looks like another example of Republican homophobes using their political position to hid their own predilections.

Me thinks they doth protest too much.

His real crime was to do literally what other Republican elites only do metaphorically. Except for the ones who also do it literally, I mean. Well, and also the part where he gave his victims money rather than taking from them.

He regretted it so much that over the course of 30 years he never voluntarily came forward to admit it, and was willing to falsely accuse someone else of a felony to keep his regret private. And now he’s announcing that he will donate his considerable fortune to organizations that work with abused youth. Oh, wait.

What I’m wondering, since this kind of thing typically doesn’t stop, is how many legislative aides, congressional pages etc there may be out there who were also abused.

Hastert had a LONG time to regret it and come forward or do something about it, but he never did. He only regrets now because he was caught. I hope his last days are in the jail cell.

As Speaker of the House, Hastert was second in line to the presidency.

If we can come that close to putting a pervert in the White House, it is conceivable that a true madman could occupy it.

The Republican Party and the media bear full responsibility.

Well, third behind the VP, but yeah…
