I hope he doesn’t have any pics with women laying around

Not dressing like that he won’t.

Too bad Charles Manson died. Now, the GOP will have to look for another candidate.

They have Marsha Blackburn. She’s as good as Manson any day.

C’mon Tennesseans… you gotta come through for Daddy. And by Daddy I mean me of course; not the orange baboon-in-chief.

Tennessee may be a Southern state, a Republican state, but Tennessee is pretty purple deep down… there are reasonable Republican AND effective Democrat politicians in and from your fair state. I lived in Nashville for years; I loved your state even though your prudish cops gave me a DUI for a minute quantity of weed… c’mon Tennesseans, do the right thing.

Bredesen vs Mackler…I live so close to TN but I’ve no idea who’ll win that one.

They passed a law a few years ago allowing people to carry guns into bars…so…

Dammit that was my first thought too.

National Democrats have courted Bredesen for months to run, seeing him as their best — and perhaps only — chance to win the seat in a state where President Trump won by 26 percentage points.

Every part of this makes me worried, especially the bit about “national Democrats”–the people who gave us a Republican congress for the last 6 years and are currently digging a coffin-sized hole for themselves by kicking out their own people without due process. It’s reached the point where the views of “national Democrats” (or, more locally, New York Democrats) are pretty much a trusty reverse barometer of what to do. Blue wins in red states–OK, rural VA–have been generated by the grassroots backing grassroots candidates. It may well be that an old party operator from a previous political age will do the trick in Tennessee, but I seriously doubt it, not when faced with a 26-point deficit.

I have it on good authority from a conservative Tennessean of my close acquaintance that Bredesen can win this. My friend is savvy and has been right in every political assessment about an election I’ve ever discussed with him.

That’s good news

Are you kidding? Compared to Marsha Blackburn, Charles Manson was a statesman.

It’s tempting to draw parallels between Bredesen and Evan Bayh, who campaigned very poorly for the Senate in 2016, and between Mackler and Jason Kander who ran much stronger. This is one case where a hard fought battle for the Democratic nomination might be a good thing, because Bredesen needs to show he has the appetite and isn’t rusty, while Mackler needs to show he can play at this level.

We’re gonna win that seat. We’re taking TN-Sen.

I’m a little wary of retreads like this. I didn’t work out for Evan Byah, Russ Feingold, Hillary Clinton and a few others last year. I know timing is everything, and 2018 looks more promising. But this one makes me nervous.

We have to be on point the next few elections. We can’t have one miss. I hope this works out. I’d do anything to see Marsha Blackburn crushed out of politics…

This is a little bit different. Bredesen is, in some areas, more conservative than Haslem. And he went out on top, and stayed there. He’s the real deal.

I appreciate how difficult it is to find electable Democrats in these deeply red states, but running 74 year olds is not a long term solution to controlling the Senate.

The Democratic party needs to spend money on developing messaging in these red states to win back working class voters.

And liberals need to understand that controlling the Senate means red state Democrats who will be more conservative than they are.
