Discussion for article #223488

And she looks like her with short hair. Pardon me while I go vomit

That actually seems quite sexist. Do you think they would have said that about a man?

it seems fair to call her that:
Iowa GOP Senate Candidate Still Believes There Were Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq

She’s got the mean-spirited idiot part down pat.

Why would they call a man Sarah Palin?

I read it as a comparison of politicians who have similar right-wing points of view and similar ways of expressing themselves - and they are alike in these regards. There was no reference to gender-based characteristics.

Not Sarah Palin.

Rather, Christine O’Donnell.

What I like about, and fear about, this statement is that to the right wing, calling her a Palin is not an insult, its a compliment! It may get her more votes.

W,hat exactly seems quite sexist? There is nothing gender-specific in the remarks, not one syllable, except comparison to the half-governor halfwit who happens to also be a woman. The comparison is accurate and fair based on their common policy positions. So what are you supposedly talking about?

You must pardon Mitchd95. He believes criticizing someone of the opposite sex is the same as saying something demeaning about the opposite sex. It’s their counter to being called racist for their racist statements. They just don’t understand the difference between criticizing someone for their beliefs or policy and being demeaning towards someone because of their gender, heritage or race.

She’s going to get all the winger votes whether Palin’s name is mentioned or not. It’s smart to call her the SP of Iowa–anything that ties her, in the general, to that toxic moron is good strategy.

Since when is comparing one right wing idiot to another right wing idiot sexist?

Castration can be good , but humans fight back .

Iowa isn’t nearly as flagrant a taker state as Alaska, but it’s still darned laughable for any Iowa politician to run against pork. She should start with the farm bill, and I hope she campaigns on it.

She sure seems like it by her rhetoric but my question is would she quit halfway through like the Alaska half Gov??? If so she might not due too much damage and would continue the gop nominates a bimbo tradition!

Darn it I should’ve read Ed Kilgore’s article first. She IS running against the farm bill. It’s the most conclusive proof available that she’s being bankrolled out-of-state.

Plenty of people have compared Ted Cruz’s looks to those of his probably mentor, Joe McCarthy.

Mean spirited idiot…it’s the conservative way!

And man, have we seen some sterling examples of that this week!

Thanks TPM, I’m very happy to see reporting of something clever the democrats have to say, rather than something dumb a republican had to say. It’s rather refreshing!
