Discussion: Dems Are Still With Her: Clinton Set To Headline DNC Fundraisers In CA, IL, NY

In my mind, it has nothing to do with Bernies, but i agree with your larger point. For whatever reason Republicans made up, HRC is a lightening rod for their fecal attacks. I guess that’s what i’m most afraid of, or rather what i don’t want to see. I have a hard time imagining anything or anyone that Republicans hate more than HRC, and with her being back on the stump, that just uncorks all of their vitriol. None of their hatred is legitimate or warranted, but that does not matter to them. They’ll use their hatred of her to suck up all of the air on this planet. This really makes me feel bad to say these things, but that’s where we are. I hope my fears prove unfounded.

Well, that’s one way to say it. But the consensus is - “GO AWAY”!

Or, if you really want to throw a curve, ‘winner of the 2016 popular vote’.

I think Ms La Fond needs a talking to and I’d be happy to be the one to do it.

I was thinking something along these lines. Woman candidate or pol, very bad, subject to regular trashing in the press with marginalization of her skills and capabilities and appeal to the very big base of female D voters who see someone who likes look them.

Why wouldn’t they? Like her or not, she was the most qualified candidate (probably ever) in US history. There was a lot to complain about, granted, but her knowledge of domestic and international affairs was incomparable. Again, I don’t agree with all her positions, but her presidency would have been 1000 times more competent (albeit, comparatively boring) and she probably would have continued to be be investigated. She would have not engaged in the stupid/childish back and forth on Twitter. I guess “when they go, we go high” doesn’t work with an orange bully. She just wasn’t exciting enough.

You’re making sense today.

Speaking of fist, er first ladies, Melania is going to the land of sh!thole countries. Well I’ve always heard she’s kind of anal!

A consensus? No.

Hillary is despised by some groups like Sanders supporters, Fox News watchers, etc., but their hatred does not constitute a national consensus.

Notice the announcement was she’s going to Africa when no one would say going to Europe or Asia or South America. Because who in the WH knows the name of the shithole countries on that dark continent.

Little context here. Consensus among boring sexist berners is go away. Consensus among a lot of D women is who’s going to be the next HRC.

Thank you! After 2016, I think it’s become much clearer just who the Democratic base really is and is not. Those who didn’t vote for HRC most likely wouldn’t have voted anyway or would’ve done the Stein/Johnson thing. They’re a minority who, unfortunately, had enough presenter to swing the election in 3 states. There’s little reason to start catering to them because, as you say, they don’t represent the majority.

Unfortunately the media plays a huge role in how Americans see her. You are correct she did nothing, but the Repubs hatred for strong women…and the media’s love of ensuring they give everyone a voice, even when they lie, created this hatred.

Fox and the GOP have been targeting strong Democratic women for some time now - and we need to point this out and go after them at every opportunity.

First Hillary Clinton, then Nancy Pelosi, followed by Maxine Waters, and Elizabeth Warren. And the attacks have already begun on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - and the list goes on. And compare the vitriol in these attacks to what they’re saying about non-GOP men like Bernie Sanders, Chuck Schumer or Harry Reid.

I’d love to see a reporter ask the next Republican bashing Pelosi: “Why do you think Paul Ryan is a better Speaker of the House than Nancy Pelosi was?” Or asking a Clinton basher: “What makes Donald Trump a better President than Hillary Clinton could have been?”

The GOP probably believes these misogynistic attacks won’t repel the people that normally vote Republican- but by creating a subconscious meme that women are unfit to lead they think they can seriously hurt the Democratic Party.

And we need to stop helping them by swallowing their propaganda hook, line and sinker.

As well as many Democrats, women, Independents and media people. It doesn’t have to be a ‘national’ consensus (your assumption). The media will drive the message. She may help raise money but would be a major distraction. And she would fuel that distraction IMO. She can’t help herself. Not worth the risk.

I agree with you on the media aspect of all this. I still believe that they were in large part instrumental in getting the orange elected. Even “the liberal media” like MSNBC shows like the idiotic Morning Joe promoted the orange along with C. Matthews (he hates the Clintons), even A.Mitchell and L. O’Donnell until they realized that over reporting on the freaking emails was unnecessary and harmful. I blame the media for much of what is wrong in the world. There is less and less objectivity (no, I don’t believe that it was ever totally objective, it cannot be).

Your opinion is not based in fact.

No, it’s you who can’t help yourself.

There is no risk in having HRC raise massive amounts of money for Democratic candidates.

In closing—bless your little heart.

No thunder, bless your little heart. You’re starting to sound like Rudy (sorry):

Your opinion is not based in fact.

o·pin·ion
noun

a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

No, it’s you who can’t help yourself.

Well there might be some truth in that but HRC has the same predilection.
And she may well indeed take a dig at someone or say the wrong thing when answering a question. The temptation will be too big.

You don’t have a clue about HRC, and you’re not going to get one.

It’s obvious that you dislike her, which is your right—but you also don’t know a damn thing about her.
So your dislike is based on bullshit you’ve read or made up.
