Discussion: Democrats Grind Senate's Work To A Halt Over Comey Firing

Carrie Fisher thought instant gratification took too long, but the payoff will I hope leave us looking like the French on the day Macron won.

I send faxes and make occasional calls, but it’s a waste of time when one of your senators is set to retire and doesn’t give a fuck and the other one is Rand Paul.

All of Trump supporters on Facebook for starters. They are all bleating, on cue “The only reason Comey was fired because he lost the trust and confidence of everybody above and below him!!!”

Yes that’s a direct quote from a Facebook Trumper on a friends wall who further up in the same thread vomited up:

"The American Public supports our President!!! "

“Trumps approval rating of his patriotic supporters is in the mid 90%!!! The only ratings that matter”

These people are truly impervious.

I’ve always said I’m in favor of the death penalty only in very special circumstances. I’d like to see these fuckers be good examples of those special circumstances.

Used to be an Air America radio guy named Mike Malloy and he’d refer to the “American sheeple.” He knew.

Yes, but the GOP still crammed their bill (which is worse than the first) through the House and the media counted it as a win. So while it is good the Democrats are getting a little better, our elected Dems need to be a shit-load better in getting on the television as often and possible and moving the messaging and rhetorical ball down the field.

It really does detract from one’s ability to take him seriously.

Somewhat OT, but reuters as usual has the best stuff:

The anger behind Donald Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday had been building for months, but a turning point came when Comey refused to preview for top Trump aides his planned testimony to a Senate panel, White House officials said.
…
According to this former adviser, Comey’s Senate testimony on the Clinton emails likely reinforced in Trump’s mind that “Comey was against him.” “He regretted what he did to Hillary but not what he did to Trump,” the former Trump adviser said of Comey.

Comey infuriated Trump with refusal to preview Senate testimony: aides

And this poll was taken BEFORE the Comey firing…

After hearing that the Trumpskis didn’t know Comey was in LA, Fineman just got in there on Tweety’s show that the White House did know that.

No wonder the man is at Huffpo.

@pluckyinky Josh may be correct, and they’re losing control. The optics are horrible, and yet, today, Russians at the White House and no Americans allowed. And I mean no Americans.

Yeah, but some things can’t be helped and can’t be stopped. There’s nothing any Democrat, collectively or separately, could’ve said or done to stop that vote. It was going to happen because they needed something to happen and the pressure from the WH became too great. Hell, when you think about it, the Senate sent them every signal possible that they were walking the plank for a bill that was DOA.
As for the media, that which I saw treated it as a win with a massive asterisk. The response I saw was pretty much that it was a pyrric victory that would most likely come back to haunt them horribly and that the optics were atrocious.

I’m happy to use the “T” word colloqually, but legally, as bad as this is, it still ain’t treason. Not, at least, unless and until the federal courts change their interpretation of the term “enemy” as used in Article III Section 3 and 18 U.S.C. § 2381.

But it certainly has the MSM even more involved.

Do I need to send flowers, roses and candy, or will they do their jobs now more than ever?

They share the blame for this.
