Discussion: Democrats Fear Sanders Is Undermining Efforts To Beat Trump

““Please do not moan to me about Hillary Clinton’s problems,” Sanders said”

That’s it in a nutshell of what’s wrong with old berns. It’s all about him. He knows he’s lost, with no path to the nomination. At this point, I don’t think he cares if trump wins the WH.

Remember how jony mc behaved (and is still behaving) after losing. Sore loser narcissist. This guy is of the same temperament!

“…the same independent, economically frustrated voters that back the Vermont senator.”

Wonder if those are the same “independent” voters who send do-nothing jerks to Congress, or sit out midterms. If so, their furrowed brows in a vain attempt to understand why they are “economically frustrated” begins and ends with them.

Everyone please remember 2000.
There is NO meaningful difference between Bush and Gore we were told, over and over again. Tweedle dee, tweedle dum. Both are evil; why vote for the lesser of evils? etc, etc. Locally here in N California this was a mantra.
We know what happened. Catastrophe happened.
And we also know that the ‘no difference’ rhetoric was bullshit.
.
Must we endure this again?

I think all this silliness and, frankly, mendacity from the Sanders campaign will pass and won’t impact Clinton’s efforts in the fall much. It is just delaying things.

My fear is that Sanders is hurting his own goal of building a progressive movement in this country.

The dishonest effort to dismiss the voters’ will in primaries and caucuses by using super delegates to bypass the pledged delegates is creating incredible ill will. The constant attacks on Clinton’s character and not her policies (because the differences between the two are a matter of degree, not end goals) are building a wall between the Sandernistas and the Hillarybots.

If Sanders really wants to create a progressive wing of the Democratic Party, he is working directly against that goal by continuing the way he is going. His more leftist supporters won’t work with the party, and the moderate and conservative Democrats are disinclined to work with them.

Are you concerned about this? Adelson is poised to donate $100 million to trump.

Of course. I was concerned when he spent 100 -150 million in 2012, too.

I was also concerned in 2008, when Hillary kept running after she knew it was over.

Senator Sanders, where are the tax returns (beyond 2014)? Do you really expect voters to believe you are sincere about getting money out of politics if you won’t be forthcoming about your own sources of income and investments?

He’s saved up a lot of money using cheap hair dye.

Beware of ideologues they have no sense of humor.

Oh, LBG- everything´s going to work out just fine. I was concerned (really!) that Trump might make a graceful pivot to acceptable normalcy, but with each passing day that seems less and less likely.

Bang on.

Because this is exactly the same thing, right? Is that where the Hillary resentment comes from? Barack Obama didn’t go into the convention with the magical number either, but she certainly was not as far behind as Saint Bernie.

But this is Hillary: She Who Must Be Stopped.

Sanders has lost all credibility.

“Oh, LBG- everything´s going to work out just fine.”

Must be comforting to have such a firm knowledge of future events.

I am frustrated by Sanders’ tone, especially when his people say that it won’t be over even after the primaries are done. All this talk about a contested convention should be a non-starter. He needs to concede, but I have a feeling that he won’t do it easily if at all. I know the members of Congress will pressure him, as will the White House, but that will make him only more stubborn. He’s going to be a pain to deal with. There needs to be some intermediary, like Harry Reid, who can bypass the Jeff Weaver types in the Sanders campaign and talk directly to him. I think Jane Sanders is also one of those dead enders. I don’t think she’s a Democrat. I don’t think she has any care for what is in the party’s or the nation’s best interest. Sanders has surrounded himself with a lot of people who are dead ender types, and there aren’t that many voices there, other than possibly his own, that have any experience working with the establishment Party.

She can’t make the “pivot” to the general election.
Translation: it’s time for her to start telling a different audience what they want to hear.

If you’re truly the best candidate for progressive Democratic (and democratic) ideas, you shouldn’t need to pivot. Your message and your platform should be the same throughout the entire process.

I remember when David Letterman was explaining how he would vote in 2012. He said you needed a President to make “good decisions.”

And for Romney, tying his dog to the roof of a car did not make a passing grade on that criterion.

When Sanders said there was something wrong with Hillary’s judgement, that was the end for me. That horrible backstabbing should have marked the beginning of Sanders’s withdrawal from the race right there. Jagoff!

Trump heard it too and he goes around snickering over and over at Bernie’s astonishing Judas kiss of Hillary, maybe you’ve seen Trump on TV gleefully relishing Bernie’s low treachery?
