Discussion: Democrats Call On Sessions To Resign Over Meetings With Russian Ambassador

Sessions has never gotten over the embarrassment of being shot down for a federal judgeship. Now that he’s got his pasty hands on the AG slot, he will NEVER voluntarily relinquish it.

My first reaction to this was that it is likely a tempest in a teapot–Sessions may have had a point that he spoke to the ambassador as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee (and isn’t that in itself a disgrace). But his apparently unequivocal statement at his confirmation hearings that he did not communicate with the Russian government was perjury. He must have known it was untrue when he spoke, and he did not correct himself. He should resign. He won’t, but he should, and Democrats should make a fuss over this. Lying to Congress is a bad thing.

Hell, Vlad himself might be freaking out over what an incompetent fool he placed in the WH and he just might start leaking stuff to bring Shit Gibbon down.

I meant this guy, you know for us Latinos, all those Russians and their names with consecutive consonants, they’re all alike

You are impugning, sir, a man who wore $600 custom made velvet slippers - tastefully decorated with a masterfully embroidered (in the French Style) Department of Commerce insignia, I might add - to an address by our humble and glorious leader to an awestruck and intellectually overwhelmed joint session of Congress. How DARE you?

A prediction I made some time ago. Now is when the real blackmailing begins…

I don’t know if he needs to resign about the meeting but he sure as hell needs to resign over lying about it under oath!

Edit: He fits in well in the Trump council.

Watch that fall apart before noon, definitely by the end of the day.

Sessions claimed to meet with the Russian Ambassador as part of the Armed Services Committee (he doesn’t have a seat on the Foreign Relations Committee). Yet records show that his meetings would have been the ONLY such meetings that took place in the past year. No other member had meetings with the Russian Ambassador. And it appears Sessions never disclosed those meetings, or what was discussed, with other committee members.

None of which moves the needle away from…he lied under oath. About the same thing that Flynn had to resign over. This isn’t teapot area…every aspect of this leads unerringly towards the bigger scandal, that Trump was deep in cahoots with the Russians throughout the campaign, and was actively coordinating and receiving “advice” from the Russians. There will be money involved…lots of payoffs for lots of people, including Trump. And there will probably be a lot more bodies turning up (What is it, 6 Russians ambassadors have died in the past 3 months??).

Just the EC election, I think the regular one gave us a good result. I think the EC voters need to be freed from voting for whom the state’s voters voted for and be allowed to vote their conscience on who the better candidate is like it was original intended to be. That way a moron doesn’t get put into office by a lot of moronic voters, like we have now.

Trump’s staff looks like it was handpicked to be extremely favorable to Russia while also maximizing the amount of chaos that is created domestically

What about Pence? Was he handpicked as well? How could he not be and what does that imply?

Not unless President Bannon tells him to. I do see the first Presidential pardon creeping up in all of this. The first of many.

I’ve had the same thought for some time now. And right on it’s heels comes, “Could that have been the plan all along?” What I mean is Trump is ripping the nation apart and creating chaos everywhere. When Trump’s removed, Pence will have a clear pathway to do pretty much anything he wants…

Yes, let us pray for the salvation of all of those who live in that totalitarian darkness—pray they will discover the joy of knowing God. But until they do, let us be aware that while they preach the supremacy of the State, declare its omnipotence over individual man, and predict its eventual domination of all peoples on the earth, they are the focus of evil in the modern world.
– Ronald Reagan speaking about the Russians, March 3, 1983

Six years later (1989) Putin remained loyal to his communist party’s KGB:

In 1975, Putin joined the KGB, He worked in counter-intelligence before he was transferred to the First Chief Directorate where he monitored foreigners and consular officials in Leningrad. From 1985 to 1990, he served in Dresden, East Germany, using a cover identity as a translator. According to Putin’s official biography, during the fall of the Berlin Wall that began on 9 November 1989, he burned KGB files to prevent demonstrators from obtaining them.

That’s a very interesting question, actually.

Remember, Trump did not want Pence, supposedly even holding a late night conference call the night before to see if he could dump him. Trump/Pence was put together by Matchmaker Priebus, in order to sell the ticket to rest of the GOP.

Of course, its also worth noting that Manafort was in charge of the campaign at that time, so vetting would have fallen into his lane.

Personally, I think its more likely that people like Pence and Priebus were compromised AFTER they signed on. But make no mistake, everyone involved with his campaign at the high levels knew and was involved with the Russian connections. Everyone. So at some point, both of them got dirty and have gotten dirtier since. Priebus’ actions with the FBI are probably already enough for an Obstruction of Justice case to get started.

What’s good for the Flynn is good for the Sessions

Of course he won’t resign. But from now on anything Sessions says is subconscious. He is fundamentally dishonest.
