Discussion: Democratic Congressmen Introduce Article Of Impeachment Against Trump

Much of what’s happening is Bannon, not Trump. Trump can’t keep two thoughts in his head at the same time. Heck, he’s has trouble with one.

Second! Exactly.

And Exactly! again. Definitely not a waste of time.

O shit I love this - it’s the red states where we are going to start throwing them out. The GOP doesn’t concentrate on states like Oklahoma because they are overconfident. Same with Texas. hahahaha!!!

:kissing_smiling_eyes:

Maybe taking the House in 2018 is possible if they don’t keep doing shit like this:

Important to note that these are the first two special elections since Dim Son’s email chain and mea culpa kinda. While “Russia” was a topic in the other special elections, for many people “Russia” was theoretical, and no “proof (in their minds)” had become public.

Great move by the Democrats. In a political scandal there are always three tracks: 1. Legal; 2. Congressional opinion; and 3. Public opinion.

When empowered office holders face resistance from all 3 tracks, they go down.

The legal resistance track has been in play now for a while and is getting stronger. On public opinion, #theresistance has emboldened this as an issue and forced news orgs to investigate and report, even as the right and the Berner left dismiss the matter (until now). The GOP has stymied the political track, but #theresistance has pushed Dems to stay aggressive despite being in the minority.

The key here is the timing. Sherman put this in on a most opportune day for Dems. GOPers can’t even muster the energy to attack it, because they’re on that ledge arguing whether what Trump has done is formal treason or just ‘treasony’. For the standard of impeachment (which they dumbed down in their rush to impeach Bill Clinton over a blow job), Trump blew past that standard a long while ago. This act by Dems has legitimacy among the public. It has legitimacy based on precedent. They know Trump has crossed the impeachment threshold.

This impeachment article will get more co-signers and supporters, because Dems will demand it of their reps and candidates. GOP will not be able to ignore it over time.

We are going to see more revelations of things that tie into this summer 2016 timeline and extend all the way to Election Day. I believe we will see a lot more of it once the health care debate is resolved one way or the other.

Guys, whatever you think of RoguePOTUSStaff, this is fascinating reading.

Me personally, I still just don’t know what to think about him/her/them. I can’t tell if his/her/their detailed disdain for Louise Mensch is a brilliant deflection from his/her/their own phoniness, or whether it’s authenticating. Ditto the way the writing style always reminds me of Wonkette for some reason.

But this piece, and their recent tweets, whether it’s good fiction or real, it’s worth reading just for the take he/she/they have.

Excerpts:

It appears that Don Jr’s description of the Veselnitskaya meeting as a false pretense is more or less accurate, but superficial. It seems to be that there was a double false pretense at work. Veselnitskaya sought the meeting under the false pretense of having damaging information against Clinton, but the reason Veselnitskaya requested the meeting had nothing to do with international adoption policy. The false pretense given was itself bait to test the campaign’s receptiveness to accepting collaborative assistance from the Russian government.
. . .
This meeting with Veselnitskaya therefore seems to be the acorn from which the oak has grown. Thanks to this meeting the Russian government was able to determine that the Trump campaign was open to overt and collaborative assistance in the election. The Russian plans for intervention may have turned a corner as a result, evolving from an attempt to install a useful fool into the cultivation of a willing partner.

It’s pretty much exactly what I think this meeting was about. It’s consistent with what the ex-spook commenters are saying it probably was. And I think the real point here was to make contact with Kushner, not the idiot.

I agree – this sort of verbal pugilism is exactly up Drumpfie’s alley. He’s been doing this stuff for years.

What he and his evil spawn and their band of Mafia lawyers can’t comprehend is why it doesn’t all go away after a day or two, like it always has before.

It only worked when they were nobodies who thought they were somebodies. You get to the White House and the press never lets anything go – just ask the Obamas and the Clintons.

Yeah, I always swing by and see what they have to say. Lots of it is plausible, it lots of snarky trolling.

I hadn’t thought of this, but I think you might be on to something. If they see that trump is imploding and people are turning against him and the democrats seem to have the upper hand, then they will ditch him and campaign promoting Pence.

This Article might just drain all of the attention away from the GOP’s repeal vote, altogether. If the Dems in Congress make this an issue during the working recess, the AHCA may be postponed indefinitely.

Right - Al Capone went to prison for tax evasion because it was easy to prove. It was hardly the most serious crime he was guilty of. For all his other crimes - the witnesses were silenced one way or another.

As if it isn’t anyway?

Does anyone really think that one more week is going to do the trick after 7 years?

Maddow said on her show last night that, Grassley was going to try and paint the Russia story about HRC/Obama

Yes, I think this is an excellently timed move. Fredo opened the door, and Sherman just walked through.

It is a waste of the House’s time, because they won’t vote on it.

And I for one want their time wasted with it. Keep it in their faces. Demand to know why the Speaker won’t even allow discussion on it. Turn every debate about the Republican agenda into ‘why aren’t we discussing this?’

Waste their time. Let them have no peace.
