Discussion: Democratic Congressman Calls Trump 'Mentally Unstable' On National TV

If Trump is determined too unstable to run for president, may I suggest that he be replaced with this fine articulate gentleman and Trump supporter? (And guess what? I hear he’s SINGLE!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ups4FeSuHvY

I can’t wait for Trump to “prove” that he’s mentally stable.
“I have the best temperament. I’m very stable, with thick, luxurious skin and real hair. My sex drive is phenomenal. How could anyway say a man my age who can get it up 3 times a night is unstable?”

… Of course this isn’t accurate. Whatever Trump says will be crazier.

Costello was likely more concerned about attacking CNN’s cash cow. They are all trump, all day long.

A new word for my lexicon. Many thanks, ralph!

Spot on! Trump is not fit mentally to be a major party candidate for President, much less President.

The leaders of the Republican Party should simply remove his nomination, and let Cruz (still odious, but at least sane) run.

“And for politicians like Paul Ryan, Sen. McCain to basically continue to endorse this person, you’re only encouraging that behavior.”

We have a clinical term for that.

Codependency (n): Psychological reliance on a partner who requires support due to illness or addiction.

I’ve been looking to widen the political vocabulary.
“Churnalism” is duly noted.
Thsnks for that!

This is weirdly both a highly viable statement - and an insult to people with mental illness.

Sorry, but I don’t understand this line of attack at all. “Mentally unstable”? How so? Has he been diagnosed with something? Is he afflicted with something that is making him act the way he does?

No. And that’s the problem. He may be emotionally, and behaviorally unstable, but he’s not mentally unstable. That might offer some excuse as to why Trump does and says the things he does. Trump says what he thinks, or says what he thinks will get him votes and attention. He’s a selfish, lying, bully, who will say or do anything to get elected.

Also, I find this kind of offensive as someone who has dealt with moderate depression for years. I take medication and I’m a stable (and pretty successful) individual. I thought it was disgusting when Ashley Judd was attacked for her depression when she was considering a run in Kentucky.

Why don’t we leave the medical diagnoses to the professionals. There are about a thousand substantive lines of attack you can take against Trump on any given day.

I would usually agree with you, but not in this case.
The security of the country—even the world—is at stake.
Except for the billions of dollars, Trump sounds very much like many mentally ill people I have met: people who can’t hold a job because their mental focus is so bad, because they can’t stop talking nonsense.
In his case, I don’t mind say he is mentally ill.

no surprise Costello was surprised.

This Kahn family thing, because it is so raw and glaring average voters instantly get in their guts, seems to allow Democrats and part of the MSM to give it even more direct and straight.

And that drives Trump even further… and further. It’s been five days and this story is still dominating the news cycle.

Trump is mentally unstable on TV and when he’s not on TV.

Seriously, how is this news? News is man bites dog. This is dog bites man.
