Discussion: Dem Sen. Rips Trump Policy: When I Was Shot Down, 'I Didn't Care' Who Helped

Tammy Duckworth is a hero who served her country courageously and paid a price.

If the American Legion somehow places Trump above Duckworth’s sacrifice, as well as others who never came back, they are like high school football players reliving the glory days that weren’t really that glorious.
I think there’s more about the storyteller than the hero with many of these guys. Those who actually performed don’t brag.

“The President took 4 deferments for education to pursue a degree allowing him to sell real estate—as was his right, and then took a further deferment for [sore feet]—as was his right, and made the decision unilaterally to change policy—as was his right, but I’d like to know which military leaders he consulted with on this policy, because I don’t know any generals who care about anything except a soldier’s patriotism, his courage, and his qualifications.”

You are correct. I don’t see how this arbitrary assault on transgender Americans can withstand a 14th Amendment equal protection challenge.

Yes. I’m sure they cringed when this came out.

It’s an all volunteer army. They’ll take non English speakers if they can’t fill their quotas any other way. They did during Iraq and promised them citizenship. I hope they got it before this jackass took over.

Anyway, yes the heads of all branches of the military likely died a little more inside today. As did every recruiter in the country.

I don’t think it can.

Furthermore it has no support in the actual military.

I know it will be agitating and I’m not skilled at transcribing but I willing to listen to it as many times as necessary to get all his nuanced words and phrases of hate correct.

Sad and more sad.

Dem Sen. Rips Trump Policy: When I Was Shot Down, ‘I Didn’t Care’ Who Helped

Trump: That is precisely the problem. Why should anyone help a liberal, especially who doesn’t even look Amerikan? Why?

Trump will amend hos prior remarks to “I like people who are not shot down.”

Are the armed forces obliged to follow this new policy?

When he tweeted out a few weeks ago, it seemed to come out of the blue. The reasons given to support the change were refuted by the leaders of all branches of the service.Who planted this idea in his pea brain? This sounds like something Pence and his evangelical supporters would advocate.

Sorry Tammy, Dear Leader likes people who weren’t shot down.

Dear dog, I don’t know if there’s enough contempt in the world for what I feel for the feckless Coward-in-Chief.

I’ll be sending a donation to Sen Duckworth tomorrow morning. Heard her on a talking heads show recently: articulate, on point, persuasive. National ticket potential.

I believe Trump’s ban was a response to a threat from certain House Republicans to withhold funding for Trump’s wall unless funding for SRS was removed. Trump responded by banning transgenders from the military entirely. Basically, it’s not about transgender personnel in the military but about Trump’s precious wall.

I am a sorry Vietnam vet. I can tell you for sure that Duckworth’s words are as true as they can be. You train as a unit, you live as a unit, and you die as a unit. I sure as hell didn’t want to be in Southeast Asia but I am damn glad I was there with my buddies, who came from all walks of life, most previously alien to me. I mourn those who didn’t come back, and I don’t even think about “what” they were, just who they were.

Not just sad, it’s deplorable.

I was under the impression that his tweet was the result of something he saw on Faux News.
