Discussion: Dem Rep: Trump Going To MS Museum For 'Wrong Reasons' Such As 'Photo Op'

Why are they opening this museum the Saturday before the Alabama election?

“He’s just going for the wrong reasons,” Green said.

So needing to take a wizz isn’t good enough?

And he was so excited to see black people at his Pensacola event too! He loves them “Blacks for tRump” plants.

Undoubtedly. In part, I venture to guess, to elicit the disgusting displays of flattery that he seems to require of hosts, and/or attendees at meetings (think of the beginning of his cabinet meetings, or any video of the beginning of meetings when he meets with congressional leaders). All the better if some of those forced to do the sycophantish act are people of color. Win win. He gets to pretend that he gives a flying f— about civil rights, while getting photo ops of in Omarosa’s words people of color “Bowing down to him” figuratively.

Gross.

Good on John Lews for staying away, and good on Al Green for calling it as it is.

see my other note for my cynical response.

But per that election - see this item from the Birmingham News - about the energizing events for GOTV with the African American and other urban voters - and for a real treat go read the comments. Yes there are some vile responses, but there are many more that are encouraging. http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2017/12/doug_jones_campaign_getting_la.html#incart_m-rpt-2

There is a way for Trump to honorably make this visit: without referring to notes or a using a teleprompter, make a humble apology for discriminating against black tenants, calling for the death penality in the central park five case, accusing Barack Obama of being born in Kenya and demanding that he produce his college transcripts, saying that there were fine people among the neo-nazis marching in Charlottesville, calling for the silencing of black football players protesting police brutality, and retweeting inflammatory anti-muslim videos. This doesn’t cover every racist act he’s committed, but it would be a start.

But … but … but Whitehouse Spokesman Raj Shah said Trump “has always condemned racism, violence and bigotry and hatred in all forms. We stand by that.”

Somebody’s lying here. Or maybe it’s just a misunderstanding. /s

True. Also, you have a great future in comedy.

Vindictive Trump wanted to spoil the opening. He can’t let black people enjoy the day, not to mention all the people who worked hard for years on this project.

Completely OT. Also, too cool for words.

Trump has as much business going to a civil rights museum as David Duke attending services at a synagogue.

I’ll submit it to Amazing Fantasy.

That is cool. Thanks!

Is there a non-FB link to it?

More than Trump, I hold the Governor -Phil Bryant - responsible for this fiasco for inviting Trump without informing the heros of the Civil Rights Movement for whom this Museum is dedicated. He has hijacked their moment but he cannot hijack their story. Their courage and righteousness will be known long after the world has forgotten and dispensed Bryant and Trump.

And HD would be nice too. But I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of that kind of thing.

ETA: It’s a hoax. Promo for some VR technology, not a real hologram. Sorry, @tiowally. Fun while it lasted. Nice compositing anyway.

To encourage African-American turnout?

Oh, how I wish I could’ve attended a few Moore rallies with an arm-load of reflective neon-blue “Proud Supporter Of NAMBLA” bumper stickers.

I would’ve told them NAMBLA stood for “Northern Alabama Methodists Bible Lover’s Association.” They would’ve gone faster than cheese grits at a Ham ‘n’ Egg church fundraiser.

ETA Oops. Wrong thread. Forgive me.
