Discussion for article #224279
If I treated a witness like this at trial, the judge would hold me in contempt.
Speaking of contempt, oh what I wouldnât give to sit in that chair and just unload on these GOP pieces of shit. Itâd make the news.
âTheseâ types of hearings tend to be nothing but grandstanding. It s really pathetic to watch supposedly educated grownups acting like this.
And to think of all the legitimate reasons for investigation the Democrats passed by in the name of âmoving forwardâ when they had all three branches of govtâŚsigh.
Itâs a sham hearing. Itâs intended for GOoPer soundbites for Faux Snooze primarilyâŚsadly most of the MSM has obliged him without calling him out on how rude and unprofessional heâs been to the people who have come to testify. I saw one soundbite where he called a witness âa hostile witnessâ with absolutely no grounds to accuse her of those words. Its a fucking Kangaroo Court. Isaa isnât even a lawyer. He has no sense of how to conduct a hearing using legal prosecutorial means.
What ever happened to that Special Committee that was supposed to take the reins from Issa, I would guess so he wouldnât continue to embarrass them so much?
The wealthiest person in congressâŚhas to know something about evading legitimate taxes.
Anyone got a match?
All of this faux scandal revolves around somehow tying the IRS to the White House. Now is the time for Dems to point out that it was exactly the White House emails that disappeared by the millions in the midst of the investigation into who leaked the name of the deep undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame. That was a very serious breach of national security for the purpose of discrediting Plameâs husband Joe Wilson who had dared to publicly point out that Iraq had never imported Yellow Cake Uranium from Niger. That real scandal involving erased computers was never fully investigated because Repubs like Issa and Ryan saw nothing wrong with top White House aides outing CIA agents and intentionally erasing email chains to cover their tracks. Whereâs the press? They intentionally have very short memories.
This is why we needed Dems to be on Trey Gowdyâs non-Traveling Circus. All witnesses and press people would have to wear hip-waders to the hearings if there wasnât someone there saying, âI call bullshit!â
I adore Jackie Speier, love her to pieces. After being shot five times by Jim Jonesâ psychos, she survived 22 hours before help arrived by drinking copious amounts of rum in order to stay alive. Sheâs the very definition of tough.
Make these right wing sonsobitches pay their taxes. Political organizations, left, right, or center, can NOT be tax-exempt.
I didnât see John Sensenbrenner ÂŽ involved. Did you?
And Iâd damn sure stop a deposition and move for sanctions way before it got to this point. Funny how compatible they can be when they get to be their own judges.
Not serious people.
Itâs not even about paying their taxes; this whole thing is about these groups seeking a particularly privileged tax status that allows their donors to remain anonymous. Of course, the way our awful, awful media cover it â always repeating the GOP-friendly, totally bogus âIRS targeted conservative groupsâ (demonstrable bs wrt both âtargetedâ and the implication that only conservative groups were scrutinized) â most people probably think âtargetedâ means for punitive audits rather than completely appropriate assessment of eligibility for that privileged tax status. (And of course, the only groups actually denied that status were progressiveâŚ) Curse our modern political âjournalistsâ forever for their part in our destruction.
Thatâs on Benghazi!!!, SR; Issaâs still got free rein to demonstrate his utterly slimy and thuggish dishonesty on the IRS.
Yup; she also gave a moving, vivid account of her own abortion on the House floor during a debate on one of the GOPâs typically awful bills on the subject. Womanâs got massive heart and balls to match. Yup, I love her to death.
Youâll pardon my confusion. Theyâre trying to juggle so many phony scandal balls in the air at one time. Its like one big blurry blob of bullshit.
YepâŚBall of ConfusionâŚThatâs what the world is todayâŚand the beat goes onâŚ
Love Jackie Speier!!
itâs just another example out of the republican guide: How to put on a âshow-trialâ.
This woman has survived more tragedy than most of us can even imagine. For 22 hours she lay wounded by multiple gunshots on the tarmac in Guyana in the Jonestown Massacre (she was an aide to Congressman Ryan, who was killed in the tragedy). She once had to undergo an emergency abortion because of serious complications in a pregnancy that she wanted. When she was a couple months pregnant with her daughter her husband died in a car accident. Sheâs got more guts and glory than most.
As a resident of Northern California, Iâve followed her ever since I first heard of her on local news when Jamestown occurred. She was a good Assembly Member and a good Senator in the California legislature, and I expect sheâll be a shining star in the national government for many years to come. A smarmy little pinhead car thief like Issa isnât going to scare her or make her back down.
