Slow. News. Day.

I had heard that he dropped a number of passes in the 7th grade. No one, tellingly, is available to confirm or deny this.

as the Gardner campaign hounded the news outlet over the story

It’s clear the Gradner campaign wants to make a huge issue of this by portraying themselves the victims of media. I’m not sure anyone really cares.
They should move on at the risk of overplaying their hand.

“Cory did play football for three years in high school, and that his records show that Gardner spent his junior year on varsity”

Failure to produce, which may partly explain his life-long obsession with the war on women.

I dunno, man…nothing motivates the GOP/Teatrolls base through outrage more than alleged persecution by the “lamestream liberal media” (fear being their only more effective motivator). Gardner would do well to continue. These fucking idiots at Deadspin and the Dem dummies who jumped all over it handed him this one on a silver platter.

Who is trying to be clever here is not clear, but it is probably not Deadspin. We’ll see how that plays out. I would not put it past Gardner to dream this one up in the middle of the night. Looks like they are fishing/phishing for sympathy voters.

That is a most excellent use of “tellingly.”

I think they’re getting some nice juice out of this story, but you’re right. They should enjoy a news cycle or two and then let it go.

But Republicans haven’t been very good at that. They’re like a bad chess player (that is to say, me) who sees a mistake the opponent made with a pawn, and instead of just gaining a pawn or some position, keep throwing material at the spot because they’re just sure this is the big one that’s going to win the game.

Oooh, yea, but wook at that widdle mug. How else was he going to get that out there.

Who cares??? Let’s go through every candidates’ background with a fine-toothed comb, shall we? Oh, look, this guy pushed somebody on the playground when he was six. Unelectable! This woman was in a sorority in college. Unelectable!! I love me some Deadspin, but this was an article that did not need to be published. There is plenty of dirt on Gardner, try hanging his support for the “personhood” amendment around his neck. Nobody gives a flip what this man did in high school. Can we please have more substance and less gossip in our political campaigns?

As a regular reader of Deadspin I was worried about the story the first time I read it because he wasn’t getting responses from too many people. To be fair though his main source COMPLETELY changed his story. I also have little doubt that McKenna/Deadspin will fully correct the story and will do so with a large Mea Culpa that won’t be hidden deep within the bowels unlike pretty much every other major media source, especially the very sanctimonious Washington Post.

Did the interviewer at least record what Pfalmer had initially said about Gardner not playing?
Because it could easily be seen that Pfalmer spread falso info and that Deadspin just reported what was told to them

The cynic in me wonders if this was all a set up.

More substance less gossip. Yeah, that’ll happen. You are on the wrong web-site, buddy. For instance, how does Jeff Flake’s son’s implication in an animal cruelty investigation further the conversation?

If the dude never made it to the varsity squad in HS, it is entirely understandable that an old friend would state that “he didn’t play football in HS.” Mucho adoo about nada.

Problem is that it takes the focus off that excellent questioning of Gardner over his personhood lies during last night’s debate.
