Confused has nothing to do with it. These people will just not let facts get in the way of their ignorance, hatred, fear and prejudices. I mean if support for Donald Trump by Evangelicals proved anything it is that āValuesā in front of the word voter is and has always been code for race.
That said, there is no way these racist misogynist xenophobic religious bigoted hypocrites will ever support any candidate who does not look, talk and thing like them even that candidates real goal is to pick their pocket of wages, clean air, water and health care.

Iām going to give credit where credit is due to the folks from Cato, although their sense of self-preservation may be a bit impaired.
There is no compensation in the world that could get me to get up and explain the benefits of immigration to this crowd. Iām an old, fat white guy so youād think Iād blend in, but I think Iād be the one in the woods, with the rest of CPAC chanting āsqueal like a piggy, boy!ā

Unfortunately, facts seldom work to convince people. It takes time. This is a common issue for other areas of public policy, science, and public health.

Sounds like there needs to be a new republican party. Call it whatever name you like. And they surely wonāt be able to organize before the midterms, and or likely, even 2020. But reading about these angry, ignorant haters who shouted down legitimate statistics, from one of their very OWN, does not speak optimistically for the future of the republican party, as it is currently comprised. The moderates, the conservative intellectuals, and those who called themselves "Never Trump"ers, are going to need a new political home. You cannot change these people. Theyāve always been here among us, just well-hidden. Now they feel emboldened and have come out of the shadows to stalk the earth.
