I love your guv. This appearance had me swooning:
Dems, take notes!
Yes–he’s not a bullshitter.
But…he’s also not all that great for unions here in CT, despite his strong words about the rights of workers.
Still? I’ll take him over anyone else.
Pence is a bigot, I had to call him out.
Well, that’s too bad. Some labor-friendly zillionaire (and there are one or two) needs to fund an education campaign about how thoroughly intertwined are the trajectories of the working/middle class and the labor movement; nothing will do more to restore Democrats’ willingness to fight for unions than voters’ recognition of unions’ importance to their own lives. Meanwhile, I hope Malloy and a few others can teach the rest of the party how to go on offense, and how to communicate with clarity, confidence and passion. He’s a terrific model.
Fixed that, thanks! And he ran rings around Michael Steele on Hardball tonight. Steele was still on the “It’s the same as the other laws” meme, so it wasn’t hard, but your Governor had done his research and noted that an amendment offered by Democrats that would have specifically said this law doesn’t over-ride state or local anti-discrimination ordinances was defeated 40-10. He had the wording, the vote count, and the date down pat.
I really, really like his unabashed use of the word “bigot”. It’s so much more apt, and less fraught than all the -isms or -phobias, because it describes the behavior we’re seeing precisely:
Bigot (n): a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance
