Discussion for article #235946
Outside of the blatant pandering to the wingnut side of what seems like a continually more wingnut party – I’ve been really disappointed in people like Paul, Cruz and Abbott suggesting the potential for a ‘military takeover’. Not only is this borderline seditious (and therefore pretty absurd) but I think more importantly, it demonstrates a complete lack of faith and respect to our armed forces.
Does anyone truly believe that the US Military is a monolithic beast that will, in a brain dead fashion, just do whatever some supposed “evil guy in Washington” (never mind that Obama doesn’t even come close this description in any sane person’s truly worst nightmares) demands? Do people realize the staunch conservatism that’s prevalent in our military?
Isn’t this an opportunity for Democrats to come out swinging and eloquently point out that stoking these crazy fires just demonstrates a lack of faith in our armed forces and their ability to tell right from wrong… and uphold the Constitution (as they are sworn to do)?
