Discussion: Cruz Suggests Trump's Taxes Show A Connection To The Mafia

Yeah, it’s just laugh out loud, ridiculously stupid. It’s sometimes hard to tell which of the two, Trump and Cruz, thinks the least of their base. You’ve really got to believe someone is a complete moron to think they’d believe Trump declares mafia income on his tax returns.

He already does!

And if this doesn’t work, I’m going to reveal Trump’s secret lover:

Actually there’s a great deal of evidence of Trump’s mob ties.

For starters:

And don’t act so surprised. We’re talking about someone who’s been in the casino business in Jersey.

From the above CNN link:

“In a recent Federalist article, David Marcus writes that Trump bought the property that his Atlantic City casino Trump Plaza would one day occupy – for twice market price – from Salvatore Testa, a Philly mobster and son of one-time Philly mob boss Philip “Chicken Man” Testa. (Springsteen fans might recognize the elder Testa from the opening lines of the song, Atlantic City.)In
his book, Barrett writes that Testa and a partner, who together headed a
Philly mafia hit-squad called the Young Executioners, bought the property for “a scant $195,000” in 1977. In 1982, Trump paid $1.1 million for it.”

Trump is a huuuggge loser on this one.

I think an argument could be made that the taxes of anyone of the Republican hopefuls would show a connection to…um…Satan!!!

A dash a innuendo, add a heap of false witness, season with self-righteousness, and what do you have? Ted Cruz, so-called Christian, desperate politician!

I can’t stand Trump, but Cruz is even worst. He just lies and lies and throws stuff our there without any proof to back up his smears.

We’re in Threat McCruz zone.

It’s naive to think that Trump hasn’t had some “favorable” dealings with the mob at some point during his business career in casinos and large building projects. Whether or not Cruz can prove it is another thing entirely; trying to verify it through tax returns is also ridiculously naive.

Regardless, this is an excellent development from the Democratic perspective. The greater the amount of Republican disunity and fratricide, the better. If Cruz can persuade just a portion of the Evangelicals that Trump is an amoral thug who doesn’t deserve their support, that’s good.

Wayne Barrett is a brilliant investigative reporter, one of the all time best.

A lot of people on here denying these ties would show up on tax returns seems a little silly to me. You would not have to dig too deep.

Much like Mitt, Trump knows his tax returns would be very damaging.

I believe that Trump has, in the past, acknowledged that, when he still was in the construction business in New York, he had to make payoffs to the Mob–supposedly common practice in the NY construction industry. But that isn’t going to show up in tax returns, since I doubt that the identity of vendors is included in business tax returns. (It might show up in the course of an IRS audit if they examine the details of deductible expenses.)

Still, this is the sort of irresponsible allegation that Cruz has become famous for and is unlikely to have any real impact. I like the push to get Trump to disclose his tax returns; if anything, these are likely to show that his income is significantly less than he claims and that virtually all of it now comes from licensing of the Trump name and from the TV show. But Cruz would be better off focusing on the four bankruptcies and the disastrous venture into Atlantic City, the failed vodka line, the fraudulent Trump University, the Plaza Hotel bad investment and other failed business ventures. Trump’s pitch is based on what a great business man he is, so that’s the place to attack.

Lies? Seems like more of a 2 + 2 = 4 statement. The guy did heavy development in Atlantic City.

Plus, technically, anyone who has been in the construction business doing large projects in the NYC/NJ area likely can be tied to the mob. I’ve employed or hired Union workers and companies from various trades that ended up being mob run (whoever you used for Carting on the job almost always had some kind of mob ties). So has the city of NY, Metro North, the PA, etc. So technically we all have “mob ties”.

But Trump’s ties are obviously deeper and less innocent.

So what Cruz has actually done here is to just state the obvious. No different than if Cruz had called himself a smug, ignorant and foolish person. We already know that too.

Many mobsters also own legitimate businesses. Many. And if you dealt with one of them, you have mob ties. One great example is trash hauling.

Yes, I have been saying that for years. Whenever he got bailed out, one of the stipulations was that they get to use his name. Plus he has dozens of licensing agreements, and as you say a TV gig.

And he has said he was worth about $9 bil once I think? Guaranteed that is a load of BS. As you say, he has lots of money from licensing and TV (big money in TV). In fact, all of this talk he does is to hype himself and make more money, keep his name out there. I seriously doubt even he thought he might end up having a chance at the nomination.

I assume he’s getting secret service protection right now but I sure wouldn’t want to be Lil Ted after this is over…

Cruz you really are a dim bulb. A little history for ya buddy. The mafia learned about the importance of the tax man thru Al Capone. Remember him? Busted for tax evasion and he got 11 years. Out after 8 for “good behavior”. But his mind was gone from tertiary syphilis.
The mafia knows about tax evasion Ted.
edit
But I have been waiting for somebody to brig up the mafia connection to Big Mouth.

You have to wonder if they’re going to hand out plastic shields to the audience before the next debate.

Right now, my personal prediction - tinged with no small amount of hope - is that Rubio drops out after blowing Florida, leaving a Trump/Cruz fight over who can be the most repulsive.
