Discussion for article #246087
The only thing Cruz knows about being a senator is to close government. He is supposed to be a constitutional expert but as it turns out he doesnât know the first thing about the constitution. He is only concentrated about being an obstructionist. Among the Republican candidates, he is the most dangerous and least qualified.
If Obama should not be allowed to fill a SC vacancy because heâs in the last year of his term as President, then logically he should not be carrying out any of his other responsibilities of office. The more you work through the Republican arguments, the crazier they sound - I assumed the Senate would deny any appointment Obama made, but if theyâre going to go out of their way to sound irrational and blindly obstructionist, then the Dems should be pointing this out relentlessly, right through the November elections. And Obamaâs comment yesterday about âstrict constructionistsâ was a good starting point.
âAs Republicans, we need to nominate a candidate who understands these issues and can go head-to-head with the Democrats,â Cruz added.
So, I assume Cruz wants an honest SCOTUS nominee, one that will truthfully answer questions under oath at the confirmation hearings. He also want one that will go head-to-head with Democrats.
***Ted Cruz's dream hearing:***
"Sir/Madame, this Senate panel would like assurances you will approach your job judging each issue before you in an impartial, open-minded manner. Can you offer us that assurance?"
"No, Mr. Senator, I pledge to serve as a bulwark against Democrats in our government institutions and agencies, acting on behalf of the Republican Party."
"Thank you for your candor, you're confirmed."
This from someone touting respect for the Constitution.
It doesnât make sense to Ted Cruz, but nothing about Ted Cruz makes sense. In fact, Ted Cruzâs celebrated intellect appears to me to be utter nonsense. The guy is the personification of Elmer Gantry.
Cruz: Sometimes common sense trumps our constitution. This is one of those times. In times like these, we must ignore the constitution. This is what founders wanted.
âIt doesnât make senseâ to violate the Constitution, Cruz.
I think Obama should nominate Cruz just to see the other 99 Senators eviscerate himâŚ
âIt doesnât make sense to hold a hearing, because it is about the institution and presidential abuse of power, which weâve seen for seven years,â Cruz said
So itâs official. Conservatives donât understand the Constitution any better than they do the Bible
Could it be Cruz has another reason to not want a new justice nominated. He is on the judicial committee and he would have to attend the hearings instead of campaigning.
Doing your jobâŚthat old âabuseâ of the system. Yeppers.
It also doesnât make sense that a turd like Ted Cruz got elected to political office, yet here we are.
Sometimes I wonder if Cruz even listens to himself. Probably not, or his head would have exploded a long time ago.
It is going to make the Senate elections interesting though â âVote for a candidate who does not refuse to do his/her job!â
On this issue there would be more closing of the ranks against Obama than you foresee. You think Tom Cotten, Marco Rubio, Joni Ernst, Mitch McConnell, James Inhofe, Mike Lee and a few others will throw in with Democrats from the Senate and confirm? At minimum their (alleged) coming to their senses and actually conducting hearings and a vote will hardly include a public evisceration of Cruz.
This had crossed my mind as well. It would be pretty entertaining if it happened,
Hereâs something I donât understand: Why are the Republicans so dead certain that the next President will be a Republican? What do they know that we donât?
Or is the next stage going to be in January 2017, âthereâs no precedent for a President to nominate anyone so close to an electionâ? The MSM would certainly swallow that hook, line and sinker⌠so maybe thatâs what theyâre going for.
It makes sense if you want to fill the Court. It doesnât make sense if you want to stack it.
Talking douchebag appears on radio show. Story at 10.
People who suffer from antisocial personality disorder are often very smart, particularly in terms of their apparent skill at manipulating others to get what they want, but that ability is generally a product of foregoing things that most would consider outward signs of a high intellect, such as honesty, fact-based reasoning, rational thought, self-control, avoidance of hypocrisy, etc. It just doesnât matter to them so long as the goal, i.e., getting whatever they want out of others, is served.
Hewitt is concerned Obamaâs nomâs reputation will be smeared? Now who would do that Hugh?
Cruz is definitely the most dangerous. There are a couple of other contenders for least qualified.
âIt doesnât make sense to hold a hearing, because it is about the institution and presidential abuse of power, which weâve seen for seven years," Cruz said.
Presidential abuse of power? This is more about Republicansâ abuse of reality.
