I seriously doubt that Cruz ever went hunting before becoming a right-wing politician.
For everyone saying he is holding it properly, please go read the article that is criticizing him. They explain what their gripes are in detail and show proper technique.
I shoot trap, skeet, sporting clay and see people holding guns similarly all the timeā¦but itās still not proper. Read the article.
My dad would have kicked my ass for carrying a shotgun like that. Heās treating it like a toy.
I grew up in a gun culture. Bird hunting and skeet shooting were expected activities for father and son. But my dad pounded into me the proper way to handle lethal weapons. He would have had a coronary seeing Cruz handle a shotgun that way. My dad drummed it into my head that even when disassembled for cleaning you still always treated that barrel as if it were loaded. His intent was to create safety as a habit,ā¦a reflex in me. And I guess itās the genesis for my desire for gun control oddly enough.
Sounds like our dads would have got along famously. Safety was always, always priority #1.
Otherwise hunting season might be damned short and not repeatable being as youāre 6 feet under.
edit:
My dad and I took business clients of his hunting on occasion. I have reams of scary/stupid behavior hunting memories that would make fine fodder for spinning yarns. But it would be thread jacking to do here. Suffice it to say Cruz reminds me of a certain highly placed executive who thought it manly to drink to excess prior to laying waste on some pheasants. Luckily we survived (so did the bird).
The most pressing danger I saw in that video was Senator Ted Cruz.
Actually the taxpayers do foot a decent portion of the Palin familyās health care bills. He grandchild since he is part Inuit Indian has health care through the Tribal Health Care system. Iām sure she has insurance through her former job or gets a tax credit to buy coverage. Plus her special needs child has a better existance and is not festering in a institution because of the federal government.
Cruz is carrying an over and under shotgun which coincidentally matches his campaign chances of over and done.
Senator Tedmer Cruddz.
Nope. Technically, he is not holding it properly. Muzzle should be controlled and NEVER pointed at others. Certainly never pointed in a random direction behind yourself.
I donāt care how many āshotgun rangeā assholes youāve seen doing it the wrong way. Itās still wrong.
The problem is that holding the gun that way, it can easily swing shut when he takes it off his shoulder.
The gun barrel is fairly heavy and when you swing it round, it can easily swing shut. He has his ginger on the trigger as well. So all it takes is a little jerk as it slams shut and it can fire.
He is using the weapon as a prop and not the deadly tool that it is.
As for what people do at gun ranges, I go to the maker space once in a while and the stuff I see people doing with a table saw puts my teeth on edge. I canāt see it being any different at a rifle range where the whole point is to show off.
Hey, Threat McCruz. Maybe you should get Rayn to brief you on KP.
No, actually Cruz is handling the shotgun properly, having it broken open at the breech showing that itās unloaded and unable to fire broken open as it is regardless of whether there are live shells in the chambers. What Cheney did wrong was have extreme tunnel vision, focusing only on the quarry. When you closely read the accounts of his accident you realize that he swung his shotgun a whole 270 degrees, meaning he pointed it at not only one but two people, his hunting partner who was hit and another person in the party who was standing behind him.
Itās their second priority now.
They sure do a great job at sex ed, eh Bristol?
This pro-gun, pro gun safety librul thinks this story is bullshit.
I think this story is silly, but your comment is off target. This was taken at a media circus hunt staged every November by Rep. Steve King (R-Cantalopes). And Sen. Cruz (R-Calgary) would not have been there otherwise.
The intricate detail work on that shotgun makes it look more like a museum piece than a hunterās weapon. It looks like it depreciated $500 the first time he fired it, if ever.
