Discussion: Crowd Shouts 'Kill The Police' After Police Fatally Shot Missouri Teen

Discussion for article #226183

Do you blame them? I sure don’t. They killed someone because of candy. Seriously? I’ll pay for the kids damned candy – you don’t have to shoot him.

Reason for the shooting? Being black while running. Jeeze!

The police have degenerated into animal gangs. In a connected age, outrage will eventually find where you live and unless the gates on your community reach to Europa, it will soon be curtains.

What the oligarchs have built cannot be sustained.

Your headline surprised me. I live within the St. Louis viewing area and have been watching the news all morning. This story has been the focus of all the local networks along with CNN and MSNBC (I don’t watch Fox). Your article is the first I’ve heard that the crowd chanted “kill the police”. I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but locally no one is reporting that. Maybe because tensions are high enough already. I have to question the title of the article though. While it may be factual, it may also further inflame an already overheated situation. That’s so easy to do and so hard to put out the fire that may follow.

I cannot conceive of any circumstance in which shooting an unarmed teenager with his hands raised above his head----even if he was running----could be considered appropriate use of force by police.

Not only is there a very ugly racial component here, it also points to the signal error America has made in militarizing police departments and the concurrent loss of a sense that the police are part of the communities they are supposed to protect.

This is going to cause a lot of trouble----and rightly so.
And it all could have been easily avoided.

African Americans will soon start to Stand Their Ground against the police.

Police claim that crowd shouts “kill the police”

Fix the headline, please.

And the cops keep shooting or choking unarmed people. Maybe it’s time for some vocal commotion from AMERICANS.

We have a militarized police force and everyday there’s a story just like this in the news. At this point when someone says the only good cop is a dead one…I’d have to agree. The most dangerous and most criminal gang in every city is the police department. And even when they’re caught red handed, say for instance beating to death a mentally challenged man ON CAMERA for the crime of purchasing a Snickers bar…they get a slap on wrist.

Not a bit. I can understand the rage and the blame being cast in the directions of killer cops. Why do cops like killing so much?

At which time suddenly gun control and outlawing Stand Your Ground will become important and a good idea.

Why are cops with guns so afraid of everyone that they need to shoot first?

Even for you, that’s a remarkably stupid thing to post.

I just hope the have the balls to follow thru with it.

While I completely understand the sentiment, I can’t endorse vigilantism. It would only fuel further police brutality.
