Discussion: Court Docs Reveal Brutal Editor's Notes On Milo Book Nixed By Publisher

No surprise. This is what happens when phony intellectualism clashes with the real deal. MY is a phony. There are many like him, Ann Coulter, Alex Jones, Sean Hannity and all use the same formula. They say stuff that draws attention by vulgar sensationalism devoid of intellectual input. You can stand on a street corner and draw a crowd by playing the violin well or sticking nails into your scrotum. Obviously S & S thought they were getting the violin but got Milo’s dirty balls instead. The editor tried but there’s no way to make Vivaldi from of a sideshow act.

This whole dynamic is fascinating and so indicative of our current media clusterf***. On the one hand you have a wingnut welfare dilettante indignant that doing his job might require a modicum of intellectual rigor or critical thinking. On the other hand you have Simon & Schuster entering into this arrangement with the good faith assumption that there is some hidden depth or insight to be gleamed from an obvious two-bit huckster.

Like reading the angry musings of an unpopular 14-year old whose puberty can’t quite get a full head of steam.

I’m sorry, but Simon & Schuster shouldn’t have been surprised by anything that they solicited from a Nazi troll… anyone who had read anything by M.Y. or read about his antics would have known that there was no substance only hair-on-fire horseshit. That S&S was willing to even contemplate publishing the bile-filled screed from this cretin, much less front him $225K to write it (not to mention position it as a “serious” work), boggles the mind.

The judge should find S&S at fault, not for breach of contract, but sanity.

Poor Simon & Schuster, how could they have possibly known what they were getting from his earlier writings on the interwebs!

I’ve heard clips of him and he just tosses out ridiculous stuff, moves on, but sounds authoritative and deep. But in this manuscript, you aren’t distracted from the stupidity and bigotry by another provocative argument, so it just sounds like an obnoxious high school student.

What’s sad is that a manuscript that Simon & Schuster found too “superficial and non substantive” to sell even under its conservative imprint would have been no worse than the books that already line the shelves of conservatives.

The penultimate homophobe joining with a most radical, self-loathing gay? That sounds like a self-annihilating and very destructive critical mass.

His attention span isn’t much to brag about, either, but that’s not unusual for a 14-yr old that isn’t in the middle of a video game.

Without the benefit of Propofol. Christ, I’d rather have my teeth pulled without anesthetic. Or have my fingernails ripped off with a set of pliers. I’d call Yiannopoulos a worthless, stupid fucking shitstain, but that would be an insult to the worth and intelligence of shitstains.

Basically, anything published that appeals to a mass-audience within the modern conservative movement is a how-to guide on being a colossal asshole. I sort of wonder if some of the other star authors within that movement (Coulter, Limbaugh, O’Keefe, Hannity…) have had similar pushback in getting their garbage published and we just never saw their Editor’s notes because at least they’re not pedophiles like Milo. That’s probably just a bridge too far for them, but Simon & Schuster are still more than happy to publish Nazi propaganda by other authors if they think it’ll make a few bucks.

I disagree. It is not obvious that MY can garner even two-bits of his own volition. He’s spent his entire life on the RWN charity circuit. There’s no evidence he can make money on his own.

Ha! It just occurred to me that the best part about all of this is that with it being available online he can’t try to shop this shitshow around to other publishers.
