Discussion: Court Doc: Hastert's Lawyers Say A 'Groin Rub' Isn't Sexual Assault

A lot of well-to-do repressed Republican males with groin pulls?

Yeeeeeeaaaaah… That’s a lawyer who’s thinking to himself of all the other things he could have done with his life instead of going to law school.

You almost make it sound like he didn’t earn that money by working harder and smarter than everyone else to create something that the market valued. How dare you disparage the character of this honorable man.

Maybe I’m obtuse, but where did you see something against his lawyers?

That’s exactly what I was trying to mansplain to my wife last night regarding my masseuse!

Well, I never said groin rubs weren´t honorable!

Let´s just call these real estate transactions with a happy ending.

It was always my understanding that it was the BJ that followed that was problematic.

Well… ok sonny … does it hurt… there — how about … There !

how about …THERE ! ! !

Was he a coach … or a friggin’ physical therapist ? ?? —

I’m sure the Judge will give that argument all the weight it deserves; as he knits the rope!

That, and the fact that this “not so certain… sexual misconduct” was worth, what was it $3,500,000, in hush money payments. Helps to erase a lot of the uncertainty in my mind.

This is one accusation. I thought there were at least 4 different victims who have accused him.

Millions from real estate deals? Why then run for Congress? If I had the opportunity of making large amounts of $$ from land deals in the private sector, why submit myself to public scrutiny in order to get into Congress? Maybe it’s just that I’m inherently lazy such that if I have enough then it’s enough and I don’t need to chase more. Chasing power never attracted me.

The fact that he covered up his actions for 40 years kind of blows a hole in the argument that Hastert felt his actions were not criminal. It also discredits his “remorse” just a tad.

“While undoubtedly many would consider this episode as described by [Individual A], consisting of a groin rub for a groin pull and a massage, to be misconduct, we are not so certain that the incident qualifies as sexual misconduct, especially for a coach and trainer forty-two years ago,” Hastert’s lawyers wrote.

He was coaching and training the student to recognize a pedophile.

OK, so if Hastert didn’t sexually assault anyone, why in hell was he paying millions of dollars in hush money? Hastert used his power position to abuse a minor. His attorney’s claims are bull shit.

So Hastert’s defence amounts to

“I did not have sex with that underage boy. It depends on what your definition of ‘ass’ is.”

Good luck with that.

Well it is easier to learn by doing.

OT: nice to see your avatar back, one of my favorites here.

Still wondering why so many people say they hate lawyers?

Haster’s lawyer continued, “We’re looking into whether the party accusing my client was using the locker room associated with the gender appearing on their birth certificate. Until this is established, we must avoid tarnishing the former speaker with unfounded and as yet unproven accusations.”
