Discussion: Cosby Gave 'Exclusive' Interview To Kill Story On Sexual Assault Claims

Discussion for article #230628

If the statute of limitations hadn’t run out he’d be in serious trouble.

As it is, he’ll face nothing but criticism.

This story, picked up b the New York Times, originally ran last week’s Guardian; it reported the Enquirer angle:

It is my opinion that because the statute of limitations is long past, the women’s stories hold much more credibility. They have NOTHING to gain from coming forward and everything to lose. Cosby may never be convicted by a jury, but for a man like him public opinion hurts more than a trial.

In other words: Karma is a bitch.

Everything I’ve read about Cosby lately tells me that he is an expert at controlling the interview, telling the interviewer they’re asking the wrong question, going off on 15-minute rambles unrelated to the question and generally avoiding hard answers about his past. Some journalists have come forward to say they regret letting Cosby control the narrative and believe now they enabled his behavior.

It is absolutely amazing that this is going on and on, and nobody seemed to care then or now about Michael Jackson’s appalling, disgusting behavior (he is still making millions). Strange.

Bingo! His chickens have come home to roost and he has lost forever his shining image, not to mention his remaining career, most likely. Actors generally love applause almost more than life, and his now is pretty much gone. I’m sorry he wasn’t stopped long ago, but this is easily second best, for him to be so mega-publicly shamed and reviled while he yet lives. And ridiculed… thanks Roseanne!

Seems pretty typical to me: spend a lifetime lecturing on the value of personal responsibility, then abjure it for oneself. Maybe the lesson here has to do with equating charm with higher order personal qualities.

“Cosby has never been charged with a crime”

Thanks to settling out of court.

What planet are you visiting from?

Nobody knew or cared about the charges against Michael Jackson?

Either you were not alive in the 1990s or were off-world at the time.

Haha.

Exactly. I know right. The excuses RW come up with are laughable.
Everybody cared way much. Jackson went to trial and was defamed and because of 2 very shaky individuals who were known to have scammed the system and wanted money.
Cosby gets FOURTEEN accusers but he’s vehemently defended by his RWNJ lovers. Yeah, right.
Jackson was more innocent and stupid IMO unlike Cosby whom I believe to be an extremely cunning sexual predator.
Cosby knows exactly what he was doing was immoral and more likely criminal too IMO.
Give us a break

Exactly. His millions saved him, further proving the most important color will always be green.

My thoughts exactly.
The reason the RW will defend good old alleged rapist Cosby but bash teen Brown as a criminal who deserved what he got.
They defended Herman Cain too amid numerous accusations but will bash some poor dumb kid like Brown with his whole life ahead of him over a petty mistake/crime.
RW love their UTs as they give their “bashing the poor” ideology more legitimacy.

Really? Nobody cared? The cops who arrested him, the prosecutor who tried him, and the media & public that trashed him didn’t care? smh.
Is that why MJ went to trial over TWO allegations of two proven known gov’t scammers but that doesn’t trouble you heh?
In addition, MJ was acquitted remember by a jury of his peers so quit the whining.
As for alleged rapist Cosby he has had FOURTEEN or more accusers over the years, has used his money and influence to shut them up!! Mr Cosby still hasn’t gone to trial so do you have a logical point here?

Nota bene… charm is highly associated with psychopaths too, so is simply not a good way to assess a person’s quality. And no, I’m not saying Cosby is a psychopath, just agreeing that charm is not a good measure.

Exactly. Good point.

Bury Sexual Assault Claims

Cosby ain’t the only one…
Considering the magnitude of the star, the availability and number of alleged victims, the lurid nature of the alleged crimes and that type crime’s usual lead placement by media when committed by a football player, team owner, corporate executive or foreign movie star one has to be a bit taken aback by the light coverage across the mainstream domestic media spectrum of Mr. Cosby’s alleged hobby.
The Cosby problem has been a media problem for decades and the guilty consciences of anchormen, pundits and media executives might be slowing the breaks as Deborah Jean Palfrey’s black book momentum was slowed and stymied in Washington DC just a few years ago…

The global media circus around the Jackson accusations was staggering. pmm080 must have been in a coma or is simply trying to gaslight everyone.

Indeed, his recent Colbert interview follows the script you describe here.
