Discussion: Corey Lewandowski Resigns From Role As CNN Commentator

So then who will CNN get that knows the inside players in a Trump administration, who has the face and the quick mind to explain what Trump says at 10:00AM as opposed to what he said at 10:15AM?

If CNN wants to save money they could just buy, for a one time expenditure, a Trump Magic 8 Ball™, conveniently sold in the lobby of Trump Tower™.

I’m surprised Zucker hasn’t dropped an application to be President Dump’s press pitchman. After all,Zucker has the IQ for it. (Meaning LOW)

Is the fact that Lewandowski won’t be on CNN anymore the one positive to come out of this election? Not thta I’ll be watching, but…

I’m struck by that as well, although in the most unsurprised way possible. It’s because of what we know already, what his 70 years on this earth tells us. Transition figures crammed with lobbyists? Of course. One nods one’s head in recognition of the obvious. My only question: He’s gotten away with this crap for decades, although the noose has already been tightening. I think he succeeded because of wealth and power (yawn) but also because he’s not yet troubled the powers that be except for annoying a President. OK, well and good. But now. Now he threatens to upset everyone’s apple cart. Worldwide depressions, unnecessary wars, politically ambitious House speakers getting grief, all that. The calls are coming from inside the house. There comes a point when even a loudmouth rich guy has made too many enemies. Just a thought. Maybe he’ll rule the world in 18 months. Maybe things will go differently. We don’t have enough information on situations like this to make the call. Stay tuned, sports fans.

And lets be real clear about something. He was paid by the Trump campaign until he was fired. He continued to be paid by the Trump campaign for the remainder of the election until literally within a week of it the election. (20K a month). And then he quits CNN to get a paid administrative position with the Trump administration.

I doubt there has ever been such a flagarant act of spitting in the eye of the notion of an independent press in our country’s history.

I’d say a military coup ought to be on the betting charts.

That would be necessary if a fit-of-pique nuclear strike loomed, and I’d welcome our new military overlords. World survival trumps mass death. But far more likely IMHO is irresistible pressure to resign (pictures of the Current Occupant and farm animals) or impeachment and removal. This is not joking and I hope it’s not wishful thinking. The man’s a threat to humanity. I don’t care how venal or cowardly you are, you might be compelled to act if you had the power to keep your children alive and save the world into the bargain.

Sure. The only thing I can say for sure is that our strong national party leadership will say in unison, “Thank GOD for Mike Pence saving the day”.

I sense a facetious note. I’m not the world’s biggest Pence fan myself. But it’s kind of a compromise. He’s horrible but I have no reason to think he’s literally insane, severely mentally ill. So he’s that much less concerning. Having to force a President of their own party out of office would, I think, prove to be a setback for the GOP, even if Pence is left as a placeholder. Not an expert but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I think you could build a bunch of pretty good negative ads for 2018 on top of that little development.

Actually I agree. Pence has zero charisma, and is as dumb as a 10th generation inbred farmboy—which come to think of it might be his lineage.

And his supporters are too busy celebrating his win to recognize that he is reneging on some of the most important planks in his very limited platform that drove them to vote for him in the first place. Lobbyists?? No deportations??? Keeping ACA mostly intact??? WTF? It is only a matter of time, weeks if not days, when they figure out they have been conned by the master conman. Can’t wait to see how this goes over.

That’s Trump’s history. He gets into a situation, makes a killing, then buggers off with the money while everyone else is left licking their wounds. But you’re right if you’re implying there could be a backlash, and soon, as people realize yes, they’ve been conned by a master whose techniques, we sadly see, are crude but effective. The slice of America he conned is IMHO as fickle as they are frivolous, so the backlash could be brutal. We’ve never seen a President-elect hauled into court on a civil suit for fraud before. As we see, this week alone was an eye-opener. So tune in for that popular new reality show America You’re Fucked, playing all day every day everywhere for the foreseeable and unforeseeable future.

That may well be. Doesn’t mean anything significant will get published.

This is going to be the Bush years on steroids. tRump will be able to gay-rape a 10-year old boy in the Oval office as a warm up to a State of the Union Address, in front of cameras and staff and cameramen, and nobody will say a word or turn the cameras on until he zips his pants and turns on the teleprompter.

I expect the Cages of Freedom to return in very short order. For those of us who remember the Cheney administration “Free Speech Zones” inside barbed wire cages and located a convenient 3-5 miles from any events that might attract the press.

[ ETA - Although, people wearing anything that might be interpreted as “dissent” or “protest” should consider themselves lucky if they get arrested. They’re much more likely to get mobbed by howling shitgibbons. And then, as we all should never forget … be very careful what you say. Because, it only takes one bullet. ]

As unlikely as it seems, even the Democrats might be able to make some political capital out of it. /s

Josh has an article where Ryan is planning to privatize Medicare with vouchers for future seniors (meaning, those not already on the system). Remember all the signs about ‘keep your hands of my Medicare’?? Nothing ever discussed in the campaign, but the GOP is now emboldened to undo not just the ACA, but the entire of what remains of 80 years of the New Deal.

That’s huge news and it’s always been an ambition of Ryan’s to do that. Ayn Rand followers, adolescent thinkers all, would reduce us to a state of nature if they could. But that emboldening you mention is a good term, because it leads people into just this kind of overreaching. These people are quite openly planning to deny healthcare to tens of millions of people. People can understand that. Medicare paid for Grandma’s gall bladder operation and Uncle Joe’s hip replacement. Taking that away and replacing it with “support” as in partial payments for private insurance for seniors is highway robbery. As always, the GOP is robbing people, and the people with the least get robbed the most.
