Discussion for article #228564
In their attemps to be more conservative, the GTOP is rapidly becoming a regional southern and midwestern evangelical fringe party incapable of winning the White House anytime soon. Please proceed!!!
These Governors and AG’s sound like they just got a call from a collection agency, saying, “I never got the bill!”
“…I don’t know how much more you can bolster it…”
Stick it next to the three-fifths clause.
At this pace, the GOP will stand for Gone Old People in a decade…a Rightie Wingnuttery whacko’ fringe cult-of-a-political-party, more akin to the KKK than a national political force. Tilting at windmills and trying feverishly to return to some fantasy land America that never really existed is NO WAY to make this country a leader in the free world.
As it stands today, the Republican Party should be tossed on the scrap heap of history, a place it has well earned.
I’m happy for homosexual couples to finally be on their way towards equality under the law. The sooner the better because it’s the right thing to do.
I’m also sick of this issue. Bertrand Russell wrote that the world would be paradise if people desired their own happiness more than the unhappiness of other people, and I’m about 5 years ready for Republican assholes to be unhappy about something else. Preferably something that tangibly benefits the roughly 97% of Americans who are heterosexual.
I’d be P/Od if my state was wasting millions of my tax dollars in upholidng statutes defining 3 as the sum of 2+2, which, at this point, is essentially what these hayseeds are doing.
Praying for bigotry is still bigotry.
<i.“Conservative States Dig In Against SCOTUS!”
Of course they did. (Against their own court, even.)
Not sure this will reverse the “anybody but Brownback” trend in the state. But he is sure going to give it a try.
The democratically voted thing is well and good, but it is still an odd argument coming from the party that crows about individual liberty so much. You do not get to vote to take away somebodies.
Actually it is not well and good. The rights of a minority should never be left to the tyranny of the majority.
The funny thing is every one of these states fighting marriage equality “until a court decides” are the same fucking morons who whine about judicial activism. The bonus is, when, not if, these assholes are dragged in front of a federal appeals court, they’re going to roundly bitch slapped.
If the will of the majority was the only thing that mattered, GWB never would have become President and Pelosi would be Speaker right now.
What ever happened to fiscal responsibility?
Oh, that’s right- that only applies when it’s social programs or anything the GOP can do to hurt the poor.
Many of those states are still fighting the Civil War. How can we expect them to move into the 21st Century when they haven’t even entered the 20th?
‘When those options are gone, we will have a discussion on how the state moves forward,’ [South Carolina’s Attorney General] said Tuesday.
Interesting. Even in South Carolina, it’s when these options are gone, not if anymore.
Thems homo lovers Scalia and Thomas ain’t gonna shove gay sex down my teenage son’s throat or leave a gay pubic hair on his soda can…
These Govs and AGs are just trowing one last temper tantrum before the adults in the country impose the rule of Constitutional law. They didn’t get their way, so now they’re whining and calling everyone else names. Their behavior defines their character as human beings. It’s who they are. It’s their nature to be, and act like children.
If you listen carefully, you can hear a soft chorus of “Nullify! Nullify!” in the background, interspersed with uncontrollable sobbing.
