Wow. Thank you, Ms. Cupp. Thank you for recognizing these people–me included in there–are humans, Americans, deserving of everything that everyone else deserves. We are so not here to destroy the world, destroy society, harm anyone’s marriage–how could we have that sort of power, anyway–but want to embrace our world, our society and all its good and bad elements. Some of us–just like everyone else–want to be social, some of us want to be left alone. But we also want to know our government and the like have our backs as they have yours.
Yeah, I’ll admit she’s right up my alley. I’ve listened to her hoping that she’s as smart as she is kinda dirty hot. But in the end she’s fairly incoherent and lazy. Plus she’s really neck-y. Man, look at that thing. That’s a lot of girthy neck for any person, male or female, to have to contend with.
Cupp is in the minority of her party, she’s reasonable and sane and never took a job at Fox news, her and Colin Powell, Andrew Sullivan are the few old school republicans that are still hanging in there.
I’m not a fan of Ms. Cupp, but she delivered a pretty heartfelt call for support here. We are supposed to be in favor of that. It wasn’t too long ago that even folks on our side wouldn’t touch this issue with a ten foot pole, including, you may remember, our current president. We should be welcoming. We are the tolerant ones, right?
And by the way, if you made Ms. Cupp’s looks part of your argument, you are the problem with the internet.
You’re right I think. The GOP exists to harm folks. And yet many millions of voters will heedlessly vote directly and unambiguously against their direct self interest.
Incredible.
Actually, she’s been outspoken about this for a while. When she was the resident Republican on MSNBC’s The Cycle (a frequently annoying show, but with a few very good people), it was just about the only issue on which she didn’t engage in her standard irritating high-school-debating-style sophistry; she was strongly supportive, and boycotted CPAC when they didn’t allow – GOProud? Log Cabin Republicans? – to have a table at their convention. I pretty much can’t stand her, but she’s been solid on this.
what is worse than being an idiot is being willfully ignorant and hateful just because one wants to be loyal to a team…that’s what she is. how do explain wanting dignity for gay couples but not appreciating the much needed dignity the entire AA community deserves? She doesn’t speak well of liberals, Black Americans, etc.
Frum and Brooks are no bargain either on plenty of issues. But they are sound on gay marriage. (Frum is also pretty decent on healthcare… he’s still blasting his own party for not negotiating with Obama when they had the chance in 2009/10, and scoffing at repeal efforts when no replacement plan exists or is likely to.)
She’s smart. She’s read the recent news about the population shift and realizes that if her party does not change, the dodo bird will be their next symbol. The reality that scares her and any thinking Republican:
The group of teenagers and young adults known as millennials now outnumber baby boomers by nearly 8 million, in part because of rising death numbers for baby boomers as the oldest of this group approaches 70. And for the first time, most children in the United States under the age of 5 are minorities – 50.2 percent - as the country moves closer to the point where a majority of Americans will be members of various minority groups. Millennials outnumber baby boomers; most young children now minorities; new U.S. census estimates - cleveland.com
Indeed!! On point one, people are still ripping her on here for some reason. That just furthers the divide and makes problems worse. When you find common ground, you like to engage, not say “f**k you anyway”. Common sense. There are LOTS of Republicans who favor gay rights, legal weed, etc.
On point 2, you got that right. Funny how when the right makes fun of the looks or appearance of someone on the left, they are “shallow”…and that is 100% correct. Meanwhile there are plenty of people making fun of this ladies appearance, and how many Christie fat jokes have we seen.
I find she can be annoying, and I disagree with her on most issues. But I have no problem with her appearance (or anyone else unless they are slobs), and I applaud her for this particular stance and display.
We are liberals, so let’s keep it smart and mature.
Precisely. I don’t credit her for this weepy act at all. I honestly don’t think she’s weepy about how wonderful these people are something something patriots. I think what’s got her going is that she’s staring the GOP/Teatrolls’ downward existential spiral straight in its unwiped bunghole. It upsets her no end that there’s no way to clean it and that, instead of looking about for some moist towelettes and a giant tub of political Desitin, the rest of her party is running around hanging bigotry dingleberries off the asshairs like they’re smelly little Xmas bulbs.
I’m not kidding either…it’s already gone from random posters on Faux’s comment boards opining that this has totally tilted the playing field in favor of the GOP/Teatrolls for 2016 to Faux actually having bobbleheads say it on air.
