I find it strange that Meadows and Jordan are doing Putin/trump’s bidding by trying to impede an investigation into whether there was " collusion" between the Russians and the Trump administration. The two bigwigs of the so-called Freedom Caucus behaving like Putin’s fellow travelers. I guess they choose to ignore Flynn and Papadopoulos’s guilty pleas,Don.Jr, Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort meeting clandestinely with a group of Russian officials to gain access to illegally hacked e mails of the DNC and secretary Clinton. Putin must be beaming at the good work done by his two faithful fellow American travelers- Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows.
“arguing that he’s (Sessions) done a poor job of preventing leaks about the Russia probe”
Whoa, Kemosabe!
Leaks? The Mueller tribe is like a deep sea tank compared to the K Starr spaghetti colander.
But true dat. This is set up for new AG and firing Mueller. And then, yea maybe, when that happens the leakin’ will starta speakin’
If you’re defending Donald Trump, you’re losing…and you’re likely complicit in some of the crimes his campaign, much of the GOP and the Trump administration have and continue to commit. I’d love to see billboards in these guys’ districts that just have a picture of them, Trump and the word GUILTY from now through the election.
Don’t let them fool you America. Their intent is obvious. They think by replacing Sessions, it will make the Mueller investigation null and void.
It won’t.
Ours is a nation of laws, not personalities. Whoever would take over the DOJ would be startlingly out of line to end the probe outright.
And now it’s in Putin’s.
“Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from the Russia investigation, but it would appear he has no control at all of
the premier law enforcement agency in the worldthis Russiagate juggernaut that’s gonna hang us all.
It is time for Sessions to start managing
in a spirit of transparency to bring all of this improper behavior to light and stop further violationsthe biggest coverup since Bannon pan-caked his gin blossoms.
If Sessions can’t
address this issue immediatelykeep Mueller from uncovering our treason, then we have one final question needing an answer: When is it time fora new attorney generalthe entire GOP caucus to flee the country?”
Fixed.
This entire statement is one of the most ridiculous I have seen. And coming from the HFC, that says a lot.
Basically, they are acknowledging that Sessions recused himself, but want to know why he isn’t doing more to shut down the investigations. The Quarterback quit the team, why isn’t he throwing more touchdowns??
They are calling the DoJ “the premier law enforcement agency in the world.” And yet, they see Sessions job as a PR rep only. “Why are you letting investigations into criminal activity dominate the news??”
I would say these two would be better off going home to blow their brains out with a gun, but…what would be the point? They don’t see to have any brains.
Really hard not come up with an explanation that is better at explaining their behavior. Two of the leading members of the House Kompromat Caucus.
Ahh, the “T-rumpus just has bad lighting” argument. Apparently that can be used to explain just about anything.
I agree completely.
Meadows and Jordan are two of the most retrograde members of the House—and both are monumentally stupid. In a caucus of dimwits, halfwits, nitwits and fuckwits, they stand out as among the dumbest of the dumb,
They seem to be laboring under the delusion that if the Dixie Pixie is gone the Senate will easily vote to confirm a new AG—who will then turn around and fire Mueller.
It is highly unlikely that even the GOP-controlled Senate will, at this point, confirm anyone for any post.
So if Li’l Jeffie resigns, Rosenstein would be in charge of the DoJ for the foreseeable future.
And that is not what those two dimwits have in mind.
If their brains were turned into dynamite, neither of them could blow the snot out of their noses.
I agree with you. Or at least, he wouldn’t be able to get the sort of sycophant he would need/want confirmed.
But Trump doesn’t really care about Senate confirmations anymore. He is going with “interim” people instead, and thus side stepping the Constitutional power of the Senate to confirm his nominations. So if Sessions resigns/is fired, he will simply name an “interim” AG and dare the Senate to call him on it. If they do, and he doesn’t want that fight, he fires that guy and names a new interim AG.
Its not like having a stable, functioning DoJ is high on Trump’s wish list.
Augmented by overweening stupidity.
Exactly. The recent NYT article about Papadoupoulos has them spooked.
With more shoes to drop, it’s already way too late to stop the investigation. It’s a cat 5 hurricane about to bowl over all these miscreants. They better be worried.
Conspiracy happened. That’s open and shut. Only question (not to me though) is how high it went. I’d be shocked if Trump wasn’t intimately involved.
It just takes two people to say no. Flake, Corker and an absent McCain makes it three already. Toss in a Heller and you have enough cover for a Collins or a Paul to voice “concerns”.
More importantly, an AG would be a political minefield that McConnell really doesn’t want to cross this year.
Fear is right and it’s 11 months before the election. This year is going to be a banner one for incredible smears, filth, lying, and propaganda. Can’t wait for those ads to start. Thank god I don’t have cable.
They won’t - I couldn’t agree more. The majority of Congressional GOP has made it clear they like Sessions where he is.
Well, there’s probably a method to their “deep concern” about Sessions, who has recused himself from the Mueller investigation…
There is a reason for it alright. But I don’t know of any method by which they can achieve this. They can talk but Jeff has already been publicly humiliated by his boss and I don’t think Congress is going to have any affect on him.
Precisely right. There are a lot of people, particularly in the House, that are very, very nervous about where Muellers investigations might go…particularly the financial investigations. A lot of us, for example, are still questioning why an up and coming Jason In The House up and resigned out of the clear blue less than a year into his current term. And why his name isn’t being floated now for Hatch’s seat.
My own personal feeling, however, is Mueller’s team won’t be issuing any indictments for Congress critters (Nunes maybe being an exception). He knows Congress is his ultimate audience for impeaching the President, so stirring up that nest does him no good in achieving that goal. It also opens him to calls of going too far of his scope, which again, only hurts him for his eventual end goal. My guess is when/if he turns up evidence of criminal wrong doing in Congress, he just quietly refers it to the FBI who open up their own investigation.
