Discussion: Connecticut Man Vandalized Playground With 'Kill Trump' To Frame The Left

“…Marks turned himself in after seeing surveillance video released by police.”

And not a minute sooner.

Exactly right. Like spilling ink on a tablecloth…you can bleach and bleach but the shadow of stain will always be there.

Although this misguided young man appears to have been radicalized, I’m not giving up hope. I believe he can still be rehabilitated and that there is still plenty of time for him to turn his life around. I hear there’s an opening at the Fox News Channel. He should consider applying. Oh, wait . . . .

Dig just below the surface of nearly all these “anti-trump” boobs and you’ll find an ardent Trump supporter and right-wing stooge. The laughable transparency of his ruse is exactly why right-wingers are so inept. Recall the famous rightie protest sign: “Get a brain, morans”

I was inspired by him yesterday and came up with this for our side.

Hell, we’re still waiting for them to stop suppressing the Kitty Dukakis flag desecration footage.

He’s got a big future in proving voter fraud.

I’m guessing it might have been an alcohol related incident. Looks like he was riding his drunk bike in that picture.

Playground!!! Lame. Like vandalizing a salad bar or a Metro kiosk…Think big man, what would a fake liberal vandalize?

It ain’t “economic anxiety” this dude’s suffering from. Knowing a bit of the politics in the Hartford area, this guy is almost certainly a racist. Why else would anyone support Trump?

I was being sarcastic—you may remember we were all being scolded after Trump’s election for not being empathetic enough about the supposed economic anxiety of the working whites. Turns out those people actually voted more for Hillary and “cultural anxiety” was really the driver with Trump’s people. And “cultural anxiety” is a euphemism, as we’ve seen.

Knucklehead. Plenty of these to go around, left and right.

The anger on the right has gotten truly frightening. It’s at a level I’ve not seen before. The death threats to GOP “moderates” in Illinois for making a budget deal brought it home to me (check out the comments in yesterday’s Politico article on the topic – truly startling).

A lot of things are at work here: Years of goading by Fox, Limbaugh, Gingrich, et al. The “permission” given by Trump’s example. The way that bigotry allows one to dehumanize the “them.” The vicious cycle of anger breeding ignorance breeding anger, and so on.

I cannot help but think that a unique ingredient in today’s environment is simple shame. They are seeing that they foolishly supported and believed such a patently unfit leader as Trump. It has dawned on them – at least at some semi-conscious level – that the party they put in power fed them a load of bull over coal, taxes, healthcare and all the rest.

Fundamentally, these are weak people – people with a deep sense of their own inferiority. Now, they feel the fools. And when humiliated, they won’t strike out at those who played them for fools. They are too insecure to admit that. They strike instead at those whom they resent for having better judgment than they, for it is those who understood when they did not that are the ones who show them to be fools.

LOL :joy:

No, but somehow he did manage to carve a backwards H into his cheek.

All the factors you mention are at work here, and yeah, it’s frightening. But I can’t help thinking how everyone who ever advanced the idea of self-government had a corollary concern about the unrestrained passions of the masses, and understood there’s a fraction of society made up of people who just aren’t very cooperative or constructive. They suck, in a word. And when they slip their leashes, life gets suckier for everyone. We’re ashamed of our country right now, and think we’re uniquely awful, but if you read much history you see these things happen. It’s pretty awful when supposedly responsible adults are helping them to happen just for money and power, but that’s where we are right now. Sucks.

Would a felony conviction keep him from voting? It would be a fitting punishment, as he is apparently mentally deficient…

Certainly a possibility, but not necessarily - one of my local wingnuts has three FB accounts, two that he posts crazy violent racist shit on, and one old one that seems to be from before he lost his mind (notably, this one is the only one showing or mentioning that he has a wife and kid, and the last post is from 2010). Why? Because he’s fucking crazy, that’s why.

“Left is the Best”. So awesome. I guess he ran out of chalk before he could write “Vegans Rule” or “Marry Me Rachel Maddow”
