Discussion: Congressman Calls For 'Purge' Of DOJ And FBI Ranks From The 'Deep State'

GOP congressman, once again projecting the bad faith behaviors in ‘government oversight’ by a coordinated group of GOP congressmen and women on to other more professional govt investigative bodies.

Not really, thanks to the few remaining protections Federal employees have. That’s why he really can’t do anything about McGabe. The Political appointees in leadership, sure, but not the rank-and-file Feds who are not beholden to them.

Now, granted, I could certainly see the current republican Congress attempt to wipe out the remaining protections to support a purge, but then they’d be actively fighting against all of their own allies, including the Department of Defense (And remember, a significant portion of the Federal workforce is ex-Military due to hiring preferences), which would be a very interesting battle.

This is treason.

Trying to “purge” our DOJ and FBI to protect their party’s criminal acts from being exposed by creating a bogeyman called the ‘deep state’ would strike a deep wound and shake the foundations of our country. While it may not meet the constitutions definition of war… it sure feels like they are going to war against their own country.

The Constitution defines treason as specific acts, namely “levying War against [the United States], or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

I always thought that, despite their differences, Republicans and Democrats were of like mind on the fundamentals of the country, i.e. the importance of the rule of law, of democratic norms, of certain institutions being above partisan politics. But I think we’re beginning to see that the majority of GOPers are authoritarians who feel liberated and validated rather than embarrassed by 45. It is imperative for us to vote these people out as soon as possible and keep them out of power until and unless there is some serious soul-searching and reflection evident in the GOP ranks. I’m not even sure they are capable of that at the moment, so we just need to VOTE THEM OUT.

They are all in this aren’t they? They all have exposure. I remember back during the GOP convention and Manafort coming on board and that sure looked weird… And then the only platform change was that bit about Russia in the Ukraine… And then Jeff Sessions was sure an odd choice…And why is Nunes defending Trump so fiercely…and McConnell must know, why is he so timid on this…And Fox news is suddenly pro Putin…what? Why am I continually surprised?

They all have exposure. I’m sure the FBI folks all can see it. I hope they have the time and the goods to right the ship. I looks nasty from here.

Hey Rooney, is your name on the list of Republicans who took dirty Russian money? Feeling the heat a little bit?

This interview sounds like a bad Monty Python routine (and, props to the interviewer for her follow-up questions to show his idiocy):

“We need to purge everybody.”

“Well, most of them are OK . . . We need to purge others.”

“Actually, we just need to purge this one guy (who’s lost his previous job anyway).”

Nothing like a fascist who can’t keep his story straight.

Since he tunes in to InfoWars on a daily basis, he should have given this interview to Alex Jones.

Three years under such a system and the next master’s whims you have to worry about will at least always be a master of your choosing. And if he/she isn’t your new DOJ/FBI can do like Saddam and have him/her taken out back and shot.

Russia has interfered in our elections. That’s well established. And they did it with significant aid from certain US citizens. That’s also well established. Republicans are in a panic because they know what they did, and it was so grotesque, the American people will not forgive them.

They’re putting Russian interests ahead of America’s and favor Russia’s thuggish dictatorship over Democracy.

How perfectly commie.

However, I would LUV to ask anyone at the DOJ and FBI: why are you still a member of the Republican Party?

If anyone should be demanding a purge of the FBI, it’s Hillary. But she didn’t. She accepted the results of the election, illegitimate as they were, gracefully.

Gore and Hillary were both robbed. But they put the interests of the nation first.

This guy is so wired into the 1% that Trump adores that he can say or do anything he wants. He is living proof that Money, Right-Wing Politics, and Religion have joined together to overthrow any semblance of the rule of law. (Unless we fight back) Read his bio and weep. Georgetown should be proud-- $,$,$. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Rooney

That used to be true.

But since the GOP fell into the hands of the far-right fascists, that party has been about nothing except the destruction of the American Experiment and its replacement by authoritarian dictatorship.

The fuzzy imprecise slang these jack asses use to push their crap is; entirely my design, proves they have no substantial evidence to proffer, something the new media constantly gives them a pass.
The walls are closing in on these fascist pigs and they are grasping at straws to protect the Orange Pustule Crook in the our White House.

That’s a great point. These GOPers are totally focused on the short term. They are either unwiling or unable to think about and take into serious consideration anything in the future. Another reason to make them a minority in the Congress.
