Discussion: Confederate Flag Group Charged For Threats Made During Black Child's Bday Party

Probably. They were just blowin’ off steam. Bubba always was a high-spirited boy, he just gets carried away sometimes.

It’s small town georgia and I can promise you that they have uncles, cousins, in-laws, and hunting buddies who will hire them in a heart beat. They won’t even have to leave the county.

My suggestion to the Republicans, right-wing conservatives, Tea Partiers, white supremists, gun enthusiasts, etc… They should look at their own mean-spirited, hateful and un-christian (or any religion for that matter) behaviors before attacking us “liberals”. They behave like ISIS, Taliban like terrorists totally contradicting their respective religions while preaching to us that they are doing God’s good work. Talk about a mental illness issue in this country! Whoa! All the while, they cater unknowingly and totally to the desires of their conservative oligarchs.

Not sure if Terroristic Threats are felonies, but if they are…

They can kiss their guns goodbye.

Get ready for the Fox narrative: “What this court did, and let’s be fair–an activist court–what they did is they’ve essentially criminalized being white.”

No end of hate in America.

Not necessarily. Douglasville is a suburb of Atlanta. The fact that they’re even being prosecuted in the first place is probably a pretty good sign that this community won’t tolerate stunts like this. That’s the funny thing about the South. Either this type of shit is perfectly acceptable and these kinds of racial terrorists never have to fear so much as a noise complaint, or they’ll be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. There’s very little in between.

I’m seeing quite a few confederate flags flying here in Michigan. To me its just like flying the nazi flag.

Glad to hear the decision was made by a grand jury rather than the police. Apparently, the po-po has a lot in common with the confederate flag group.

They did. They were charged with a terrorist crime. I hope they all go to prison for a long time.

They should fare very well in the penitentiary. Have a nice stay.

Some of my neighbors who still have Mitt and McCain election signs in their yard after the church shooting and hellabalu about that racist flag are now flying it. I try to drive the other way so that I don’t even need to see the racism for sure you can’t talk to these idiots.

More of the story from The NYT.

This is encouraging:
The Douglas County district attorney, Brian Fortner, a white Republican elected to the office in 2014, announced the indictments in a news conference Monday morning. Each of the 15 was indicted on one count of making terroristic threats, and a second count of unlawfully
participating in “criminal gang activity.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center helped make this happen! I donate to them monthly. It is a great organization fighting hate and discrimination through our legal system and through education.
The SPLC launched an investigation immediately after the July 25
incident and turned over videos and other evidence to Douglasville
District Attorney Brian K. Fortner. SPLC attorneys also brought
witnesses to the prosecutor and have been representing some of the
people at the party.
SPLC chief trial counsel Morris Dees praised Fortner for bringing charges.
“These cowards chose unarmed African Americans enjoying a peaceful birthday party to vent their violent racist hatred,” Dees said. “This is reminiscent of the Ku Klux Klan – modern-day night-riders terrorizing African Americans in the name of Southern heritage.

Take at look at the map of active hate groups. You may be surprised how many are in your state.
https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map

California had more active hate groups than any other state last year, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).The non-profit has published an interactive ‘Hate Map’ showing hate group figures for all 50 states and the District of Columbia in 2014.According
to the findings, California has 57 such groups, followed by Florida
with 50, New York with 44, New Jersey with 40, and Pennsylvania with 38.

I do beleive they are felonies and not misdemeanors, as most threats are clkassified as felony intimidation, and an extra definition (terrorism) makes it worse.

Yeee-haww! Praise the Lord and pass on the ammunition now, Bubba! Still gotcher self that slingshot from when you wuz 10?

A shame it took the prosecutor so long to file chatrges, but they likely needed to round up all the boys.

The sad part is that folks have short memories. When they apply at wal mart it won’t be noticed that they were dip stick bullies at a kids b day party.
