Discussion: Comey: It's 'Not Normal' For Trump To Call For Me To Be In Jail

The deplorables love it when Trump does it. That says as much about them as it does about him.

It is not “normal” for a FBI Director to deliberately try to influence elections, either.

There is no good guy here. They’re all bad.

Nothing about this administration is ‘‘normal,’’ dude. And you helped create it.

“The President of the United States just said that a private citizen should be jailed. And I think the reaction of most of us was, ‘Meh, that’s another one of those things.’ This is not normal. This is not OK,” Comey said in an interview with NPR. “There’s a danger that we will become numb to it, and we will stop noticing the threats to our norms, the threats to the rule of law, and the threats most of all to the truth.”

At the risk of stating the obvious, there’s been a whole lot about the Trump presidency that’s not been normal.

Comey: It’s ‘Not Normal’ For Trump To Call For Me To Be In Jail

Could it be that Trump is confusing Comey with Cohen?

This from the traitor who leaked Israeli code word intelligence to the Russians - Iran’s ally - while in the Oval Office.

Comey is right. We seem to be at the point that whatever trump spouts we just kinda shrug our shoulders and say its trump, and then point out the flaws of whatever the person vocalizing the concern is. Comey is correct. This is not normal nor is it right. It also sets a bad precedence for future presidents of what we expect of him/her and how far they can go.

Sorry, do you really think that anyone else running for office will get away with what Trump has? He is a one time event. Just a shame it happened in my life time.

He wasn’t deliberately trying to influence elections. He’s a flawed but principled person who tried to do his best under extremely difficult circumstances. Don’t get me wrong–I think he made some awful decisions and failed the test he faced. Still, it’s not helpful to put him in the same boat as Trump and his goons who despise the rule of law and do the wrong things for the wrong reasons.

I wish I could be confident that the Dotard is a one-time event. I fear the possibility that a more competent and disciplined politician could appeal to the same constituency. Now that the base is stirred up, it may be very difficult to return to “normal.”

And you know this, how?

His actions went against Justice Department policy. He knew that at the time. He dragged out the investigation of Hillary Clinton, and then had an unusual press conference to criticize her when he announced no charges would be filed. He only turned on Trump after Trump turned on him.

Absolutely.

There will never be another president like this piece of filth. We are going to rise above this and elect someone with honor.

I predict this piece of filth will resign—that he will be given such a choice in lieu of indictment.

Absolutely agree

The Bush Administration was nothing if not anti-truth. I wonder where Comey was then.

It is your opinion that he did this?

From his past posts, the OP sees the world in stark black and white, good and evil. You’re either for us or against us. He never does nuance.
