Discussion: Comeuppance: Attacking Obamacare Backfires And GOP Has No Alternative

You would think that RighTea voters would eventually switch to a party that would actually help them, but you would be overestimating the ability of the RepTealian-brained to think.

There is little room in the RepTealian brain for anything other than fear, hatred, and resentment.

In America, Race is still more powerful than Reason.

What next? How about “birth certificate”?

Realistically the “what next” here is Benghazi, which in some ways is ideal, they can infer all kinds of evils from the emails and there will never be proof one way or the other.

The big picture?
ÂŽs have no intent on governing this country in a positive fashion.
The corporatist oligarchs are in a long-term foot-dragging stage designed to extract/redistribute as much revenue from the government and the middle-class as possible-- before the demographic reality of a non-white majority awakens to their power via the voting booth.

Began as scorched-earth-policy during GWB’s reign of destabilization; since devolving into a slow-motion form of attrition. Attrition which ®s have accepted-- and are slowing as much as possible to wield the power of white privilege for as long as possible.

The 5-year Obamacare tantrum just happened to be the latest boogeyman at the fore-- and convenient.
Now? ®s got nuthin’.

Sadly (because it shows how far my musical tastes have fallen) these Frozen-modified lyrics going through my head say it all:

Repeal don’t heal don’t let them know
Well now they know!

Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door

Under George Dubya Bush: SIXTY dead in attacks on US embassies and consulates.
Number of Republicans {{outraged!!!}}: ZERO!
January 22, 2002. Calcutta, India. Gunmen associated with Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami attack the U.S. Consulate. Five people are killed.

June 14, 2002. Karachi, Pakistan. Suicide bomber connected with al Qaeda attacks the U.S. Consulate, killing 12 and injuring 51.

October 12, 2002. Denpasar, Indonesia. U.S. diplomatic offices bombed as part of a string of “Bali Bombings.” No fatalities.

February 28, 2003. Islamabad, Pakistan. Several gunmen fire upon the U.S. Embassy. Two people are killed.

May 12, 2003. Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Armed al Qaeda terrorists storm the diplomatic compound, killing 36 people including nine Americans. The assailants committed suicide by detonating a truck bomb.

July 30, 2004. Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A suicide bomber from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan attacks the U.S. Embassy, killing two people.

December 6, 2004. Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Al Qaeda terrorists storm the U.S. Consulate and occupy the perimeter wall. Nine people are killed.

March 2, 2006. Karachi, Pakistan again. Suicide bomber attacks the U.S. Consulate killing four people, including U.S. diplomat David Foy who was directly targeted by the attackers. (I wonder if Lindsey Graham or Fox News would even recognize the name “David Foy.” This is the third Karachi terrorist attack in four years on what’s considered American soil.)

September 12, 2006. Damascus, Syria. Four armed gunmen shouting “Allahu akbar” storm the U.S. Embassy using grenades, automatic weapons, a car bomb and a truck bomb. Four people are killed, 13 are wounded.

January 12, 2007. Athens, Greece. Members of a Greek terrorist group called the Revolutionary Struggle fire a rocket-propelled grenade at the U.S. Embassy. No fatalities.

March 18, 2008. Sana’a, Yemen. Members of the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic Jihad of Yemen fire a mortar at the U.S. Embassy. The shot misses the embassy, but hits nearby school killing two.

July 9, 2008. Istanbul, Turkey. Four armed terrorists attack the U.S. Consulate. Six people are killed.

September 17, 2008. Sana’a, Yemen. Terrorists dressed as military officials attack the U.S. Embassy with an arsenal of weapons including RPGs and detonate two car bombs. Sixteen people are killed, including an American student and her husband (they had been married for three weeks when the attack occurred). This is the second attack on this embassy in seven months.

Of course, since the attacks occurred before Jan 20, 2009…Republicans don’t believe they happened at all.

I think the president should have a Day of Honor for all the men and women who have died in embassy attacks in the last ten years. Invite the families to the White House and have a respectful ceremony. It’s difficult, dangerous, and important work. Their sacrifices should be honored.

He could invite a Republican–Darrell Issa, perhaps-- to read all the names aloud. Slowly.

If everything is fine with Obamacare then lift all delays still out there. Lets start with the employer mandates.

But i bet one thing Issa would not do is blame it on a STUIPD VIDEO.

Darrell Issa is a marginally intelligent marionette on strings.
A dishonorable cad.

Seems to me the Republicans’ play is to do this:

  1. Obstruct all legislation
  2. Complain that the Democrats can’t get anything done
  3. ???
  4. Profit!

It’s been working so far…

The republican are not and have never been serious about governing. They are a purely opposition party that cares only about political stunts.

Just wait until Grandma and Grandpa Floridian get DEATH- PANELED!!!1!!!11!

Well, anger over the video WAS determined to be a factor in the whole mess over there around that time.

The Democrats should take Ted Cruz’s advice and make 2014 all about obamacare by highlighting the 50 votes your Republican Congressman supported to take health coverage away from 8 million people.

Without a plan of their own, Republicans are faced with a choice: campaign on taking away benefits from millions of Americans or give up their repeal quest.

Or a third alternative - start taking credit for it. The GOP has no shame, so don’t be surprised if the GOP claims the ACA was their idea all along and they were just fighting to keep the Democrats from messing it up. And thanks to the GOP’s courageous stand, the ACA is working just how the GOP designed it.

Funnily enough, the Heritage Foundation has disavowed their own plan, saying that the mandates in ACA were not what was intended- I think that- according to HF the mandates were intended to protect the insurance companies/hospitals, not individuals.

They’re going to have to perform some incredible mental gymnastics to get people to believe that they were championing the ACA all along. Fortunately, there is PLENTY of evidence to the contrary, like so much evidence- 4-5 YEARS of evidence in fact.
