One time we were released early in a snowstorm, about halfway home the bus got stuck. It was the HS bus and we all got out and pushed the bus and got back on the road.and made it home. I, of course, was near the end of the route.

I lived in the boonies and this was back in the dark ages before cell phones.

Oh my! 20 years ago the university where I attended graduate school had the same experience. Their annual Halloween festival turned into violence, even worse than these kids. Cars were burned and turned over, broken beer bottles were thrown from patios in the downtown area, and lot of other mayhem.

And 20 years ago, we didn’t have 1000 channels, Xbox, or $200 a week allowances. What we did have was a culture where the more you drank the cooler you were.

I bet there are lots of stories like this. Remember the 1920’s? What about the drugs in the '60’s? It wasn’t all about protesting, you know.

I thought Animal House was set at a fictionalized Dartmouth. Also New Hampshire.

“White culture of violence on harrowing display as New Hampshire college pumpkin festival degenerates into violence, mayhem and arrests.”

A terrible situation no doubt and those responsible should be punished to the fullest extent of the law and be ashamed of themselves. However, not sure why this article gets the sort of inflammatory intro that it does. Its a sad event with unacceptable behavior demonstrated, but to paint it as a an indictment of “white culture” is the mirror image of the kind of silly headlines I’ve come to expect from Fox. Way to go TPM.

Alrighty now…let’s not hype this up to something it isn’t. ‘HUGE crowds’? C’mon…it’s STILL Keene…a teeny tiny dinky college in a teeny tiny town. It’s bad enough.

What PLANET do you live on? ‘Disaffected’ college students? For cripes sake…this goes on in the FALL all over college campuses…The REPORTING is probably worse than the actions.

I remember long ago when a riot happened at a music festival (not sure where) and someone attributed it to “good weather, alcohol, and the exuberance of youth.”

Throw in mob mentality for fun and I think that covers it.

It fascinates me how people can totally forget what life was like when they were kids.

At the time, we were the worst generation ever. blah, blah, blah and of course the old folks were all saints. Some things never change.

‘Dozens of people’? Wow…

Geeze guy, relax. One college in New Hampshire has an incident and you paint ALL college students as disaffected? And then you suggest the ruination of everything?

The school said in a statement that off-campus gatherings escalated at locations around the city.

The “gatherings escalated”? WTF does that even mean?

All the large fields in the area where filled with RV campers that where obviously parked over night, and just waiting for it to start. Is that descriptive enough for you.I did not stop to count them.

I guess the AP copy writer doesn’t get out much.

“…whose only purpose was to cause mayhem…”

Fertile ground for Republican Party recruiters.

And, John Oliver and Colbert ridiculed the need for extra homeland security moneys for pumpkin festivals. An armored vehicle would have stopped all of this. Just saying. [is a “snark” tag needed here?]

Did Keene break out their Bearcat for this?

Let’s not throw out an entire generation of college students because of the actions of a relative handful at a not-exactly-top-tier school.

Three cheers for the Police State! MORE armored vehicles! YAY!
