Discussion: Cohen’s Lawyer Says His Closed-Door Testimony Was ‘Game Changing’

Lanny can be full of shite. I will wait to see what comes of this. But Schiff and Salwell looked a touch intense after the hearing…

If the Trump administration was Wlie E. Coyote, the past two years would be when Wile has run off the cliff and keeps running. Cohen’s testimony is when Wile looks down and holds up a sign. The next few months will be the fall. I wouldn’t have believed it two months ago, but I think we are heading for “Splat” soon.

I laughed out loud.

For some demented reason, I immediately thought of this:

But didn’t we all kinda figure this was the case? The reason it’s behind closed doors is because there’s a whole bunch of evidence that Cohen has that can’t be revealed for all sorts of security reasons as well as what’s already going on in Mueller and SDNY, et al.

This is nothing. Will be nothing until it can all be revealed, which it ultimately will be.

In the meantime, the positive out of this is that it’s all sworn testimony and probably in the Congressional Record.

Yeah, it kind of sets my teeth on edge every time I have to listen to Lanny. What a freaking shame that he’s any sort of source in all of this.

Mueller will indict Trump on four charges:
(all in reference to the Campaign)

  1. Conspiracy to defraud the Unites States of America
  2. Obstruction of Justice
  3. Perjury
  4. Suborning Perjury

The SDNY will indict him on:

RICO violations; including

  1. Tax Fraud
  2. Charity Fraud
  3. Insurance Fraud
  4. Conspiracy to commit Fraud(s)
  5. Money Laundering
  6. Perjury
  7. Suborning Perjury

The only question now is; When?

Intuitively, I think most everyone knows what’s going on here. When Trump’s access to major US banks and insurers was cut off after his 6th bankruptcy, he found a new source of cash in the Soviet Union (yes, I use this term with specificity, since that is Putin’s aim). The Russians made that money available in a variety of ways. Some of those ways were legal on their face (buying Trump properties, but at highly inflated prices). But most were not; they were through off the books loans, generally laundered through third parties like DeutcheBank’s private investment bank subsidiary, off shore banks, and suitcases of cash. For each of these loans, there was a “call date” at the discretion of the “lender”. And we also know, intuitively, that Trump hopes to “pay off” those loans by delivering American foreign policy to Putin. During all these years, Trump has also come to internalize Putin’s view of the world, perhaps because he thinks of himself as an outsider in America, especially among its elites, while the Russians have flattered and embraced him. But to prove all of this, Mueller is going to need an oligarch to flip; hopefully, that has already happened.

After 2 years of paying close attention to the Mueller investigation into Trump’s Russia ties, and reading articles like the one cited here, and listening to MSNBC and CNN, and participating in this Hive, I have come to one clear conclusion: this is not so much about trump as it is an inside look at the world of global crime and their complete and utter lack of ethics to anything other than the free movement of money around the globe for their own enrichment. Only a fool would conclude that this is just trump. The entire global criminal movement of money is a force unto itself respecting no borders such as love of country, law, and/or human compassion and decency. I applaud the Democrats for attempting to expose trump to the light of day, but there are forces at work (global media, for example) that have conflicting loyalties in this battle. Many corporations and politicians have conflicting loyalties because they are not as pure as the driven snow in this. Still, I try to remain hopeful that one small leg of this will be taken down.

Except Lanny hasn’t been convicted of a crime, and actually he never represented Hillary.

Unless (1) Mueller writes a comprehensive report (he won’t), and (2) the AG publishes that report (he won’t), every closed door should be flung open and let slip the dogs of war. This is getting beyond a joke.

these so-called “iron triangles” of organized criminals, corrupt government officials, and business leaders pose a significant national security threat.

Yes, but it will involve tar and feathers.

Can we also get them run out of town on a rail?
No need to leave out such vital traditions on our national holiday, don’tcha think?

Not going to happen. Mueller will not indict the president. Rosenstein has basically made this clear.

There is a chance that SDNY will indict, but it’s an outside chance.

Someone will have to step up and break the ‘rules’. Or the House will have to conduct effective and prompt oversight and impeach successfully. Also highly uncertain.

Not saying this to be negative, but in order to steel myself for the election that will decide the fate of the Republic for a generation. On that front, I’m bullish.

I would make just one correction to that quote: “[ ] pose a significant global security threat.”

There is no LAW or STATUE precluding indicting a sitting President.

Only a DOJ MEMO which does not have the power of LAW, and is contradicted by a PREVIOUS DOJ MEMO that allowed indicting a sitting President, and was upheld by the SCOTUS (in the case of Clinton.)
In THAT case however, it was a CIVIL SUIT, not a Criminal indictment.

So, it is an open question as to whether a sitting President can or cannot be indicted for a FELONY.
VPs have been (Spiro Agnew) so why not Presidents?

I’m betting on stress-related runny poops in the West Wing and some Congressional offices in the days ahead.

Popcorn for us, loperamide for them.
