The key question for Trump is what’s worse—letting Cohen take his lumps and risking a flip that may or may not matter, or pardoning him and setting his own self up for more obstruction charges and political damage. That’s a tweener and we know he doesn’t enjoy making difficult decisions and puts them off like the slacker he is.

If this were a John le Carré or Alistair MacLean novel, I would say this was being leaked by the team who is planning Cohen’s ‘tragic; untimely and totally not suspicious’ suicide.
