I’m not going to lend an iota of my reputation to help the White House pretend that there is nothing wrong with what happened in Helsinki

The good news is that he stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Why on earth would the Director of National Intelligence need to know what transpired in a meeting between the President of the United States and Vladimir Putin? Unbelievable.

My bad, perhaps I should say that if he is not in a position to fully know then this is so wrong on such many levels that a primeval scream does not capture its essence.

And, to start that he has to parse words in just this manner.

I think that was him telling the others that he does know. That answer wasn’t for the public.

Or…

Is anyone in the WH in a position to comment, including the President?

Perhaps, but he could certainly explain why he’s “not in a position to either understand fully or talk about” Helsinki. That would be fun.

Fully agreed, it has long felt like this mess is personal.

Have you considered a classic SciFi theme. Get the §resident to comment by tweeting himself and responding. Eventually he will burn through so many cycles he shuts down with smoke wafting from his ears.

May be, but I really do not speak “others” so I am left guessing.

And if so another thing wrong, he has to speak publicly to give a nonpublic answer to the others.

And just so this does not fall off the table in our understanding, Coates and his statement are not the source for problems generating the primeval scream. Clearly he felt compelled to say something as clarification, and my interpretation was that this was the least damaging.

Judge Ellis doesn’t want anybody using the term “oligarchs” to describe oligarchs, because it’s taken on such a negative tone. Hard to parse that into anything sensible, but there you are.

Correct. Saying, “I can’t understand what the hell happened,” doesn’t mean you don’t know things, only that it makes no damned sense.

It did more than hurt his feelings; it scared the crap out of him, and you’re absolutely right that the experience of the wall coming down the way it did is a formative moment in Putin’s life and career.

The Beeb had a good write-up a few years ago.

It’s not as if he has a lot to spare.

Someday, if there are historians, one of them will compile a list of people who were made to look good by comparison to the rest of the trump administration.
